Twilight Romance: Flash Marriage to Mature Tycoon – Episode 35
The photograph filled every screen, showing Jocelyn entering the attorney’s office with Summer’s agreement in her hand. A date and time appeared beneath it, stripped of the decision she eventually made. Around the ballroom, whispers transformed uncertainty into judgment.
Ray looked at Jocelyn rather than the image. He already knew why she had visited the attorney and how close she had come to leaving. There was no accusation in his face, only concern about how publicly her private struggle had been exposed.
Summer invited Jocelyn to explain why a devoted wife had sought divorce counsel. Jocelyn took the microphone from the stunned master of ceremonies. She refused to let Summer narrate another incomplete truth.
She told the guests that Summer had offered to release Violet and Astor Group from legal pressure if Jocelyn ended her marriage. She had obtained independent advice because serious choices deserved informed judgment. Then she had rejected the bargain and given the evidence to the court.
The room’s mood shifted. Several board members had seen the agreement and confirmed her account. Summer accused them of protecting Ray, but the document bore her signature.
Jocelyn continued before fear could silence her. She admitted that she and Ray were rebuilding a marriage damaged by deception. Their relationship was imperfect, private, and real; no photograph of a lawyer’s door could reduce it to scandal.
Ray joined her beneath the screens. He stated that Jocelyn had every right to seek legal counsel and every right to leave him. Her decision to stay carried meaning precisely because it had not been forced.
Summer’s donor ally tried to depart. Security stopped him after technicians traced the hacked display system to credentials issued through his office. The confidential report and photograph had been uploaded from a device registered to his assistant.
The foundation director removed Summer from the event. She protested that the loss projections were authentic. Ray answered that they were outdated, altered, and already disclosed in corrected form to lenders.
As security approached, Summer turned to Violet and demanded support. Violet remained beside Jocelyn. She said a mother who loved her would not repeatedly use fear of losing family as a weapon.
Summer left under the gaze of people whose approval she valued more than affection. The ballroom doors closed behind her, but the damage to the gala remained. Donors murmured about withdrawing until Astor finances could be verified.
Ray prepared to address them with projections and legal explanations. Jocelyn suggested that numbers alone would sound defensive after such a spectacle. The foundation needed to remind everyone whom its work served.
She invited the school principal and housing supervisor to the stage. They described classrooms opened, families sheltered, and apprentices trained through foundation programs. Abstract losses gave way to people whose lives had changed.
Jocelyn then announced she would donate the fee offered for the public Astor interview to the literacy program. The amount was modest beside the evening’s pledges, yet its sincerity inspired others to recommit.
Donations began appearing on the screens once technicians restored control. The total passed its original goal. Ray watched Jocelyn rescue an event built around his name by focusing attention away from both of them.
When the orchestra resumed, he asked her to finish their dance. Jocelyn accepted, though the room now watched with warmer curiosity. They returned to the floor without pretending the interruption had not happened.
Ray whispered that he had planned to give her the original wedding ring during the final song. Jocelyn thanked him for abandoning the plan. Public pressure, even romantic pressure, would have repeated the mistake of their first marriage.
Instead, he asked what she wanted from the rest of the evening. Jocelyn chose one dance, a quiet drive home, and leftover cornbread. Ray agreed that billionaire life had been dramatically overrated.
Outside the ballroom, police questioned Summer about the leaked financial documents. She denied arranging the hack and named the donor as solely responsible. The man responded by revealing messages that proved she had paid him.
As Ray and Jocelyn prepared to leave, his assistant delivered the news. The messages also referenced an unnamed partner inside Astor Group—someone with access to current board schedules and Violet’s trust. Summer had not been working alone.
