I Have Five Kick-Ass Brothers – Episode 58

The threat transformed wedding planning into a security investigation. Raina refused to cancel immediately, but she would not dismiss language aimed at her brothers. Joshua treated the message as credible until evidence proved otherwise.

Only twelve people knew the date. Each volunteered devices and communication logs, including Raina and Theo. The leak originated from a wedding-planning tablet that had never left the Lincoln estate.

The tablet connected briefly to a counterfeit smart-home hub disguised as the family’s robot vacuum. Raina stared at the machine she once dreamed of buying and almost laughed at the bitter absurdity.

Mr. Jones had purchased the vacuum through a concierge service during the family reunion. The supplier used a distributor later acquired by one of Carlisle’s shell companies. Hidden hardware had remained dormant until the wedding date entered the tablet.

Luke disabled the device and extracted its transmission history. It sent data to a server programmed before Carlisle’s arrest, making the threat another automated contingency rather than proof of a free conspirator.

The server had selected a brother randomly from public schedules and generated language predicting absence. This time it targeted Henry, who was due to film overseas two days before the ceremony.

Henry refused to abandon the role or the wedding. He adjusted the filming schedule and arranged secure transport, insisting an old algorithm would not dictate his life.

Raina worried the threat might exploit a real travel risk. Joshua reviewed the production company and found no connection to the network. Security around Henry’s return flight was strengthened without turning his work into a prison.

The leaked invitation spread quickly, drawing fans and reporters to the construction site. Privacy was already lost, so Raina changed the ceremony plan rather than wage a hopeless battle against attention.

The legal marriage would occur privately at the courthouse on another date known only to Raina, Theo, and a randomly assigned clerk. The garden event would remain a family celebration without documents or required rituals.

The solution separated commitment from spectacle. If cameras arrived, they would witness a party, not gain control over the moment Raina and Theo legally chose each other.

Coco asked whether her presence would create disruption. Raina had not planned to invite her while legal restrictions remained, but the leaked guest list already included Coco’s name despite no invitation being issued.

Someone expected Coco to appear and revive the triangle. Raina refused the script. She arranged a private video call after the celebration rather than turn Coco’s accountability process into wedding entertainment.

The day before the party, Henry completed filming and boarded his secured flight. Weather diverted the plane to another city, making his timely arrival uncertain. The automated threat seemed to be fulfilling itself through coincidence.

Raina told him by phone that missing the party would not damage their bond. Henry answered that after losing twenty years, he refused to miss another family milestone if any route remained.

He chartered a car for the overnight drive, with Joshua-approved security and scheduled check-ins. The family monitored his progress without demanding reckless speed.

At dawn, the car stopped transmitting eighty miles from Brookfield. Calls went unanswered. Joshua dispatched local officers while trying to keep panic from overtaking facts.

The vehicle was found at a roadside rest area, doors unlocked and Henry’s phone on the passenger seat. There were no signs of violence, only footprints leading toward a wooded service road.

A handwritten note beneath the phone repeated the invitation’s warning. Unlike the automated message, this paper was fresh and physically delivered.

Then Henry called from an unknown number. He was safe in a nearby clinic after helping an injured driver, but his security escort had disappeared with the car keys and wedding route.
