Hillbilly Girlie Marries a Billionaire – Episode 33
Lucas refused Sophie’s offer. She remained under medical observation and criminal investigation, and her presence could make the situation less predictable. Sophie argued that Grant believed she still controlled him. Without her, he might panic before police reached Mrs. Davis.
Emily agreed only if Sophie wore a tracker and followed every instruction. The decision tasted bitter, but saving her mother mattered more than pride. Lucas understood and shifted the plan rather than wasting precious minutes fighting it.
Police concealed a transmitter beneath Sophie’s hospital bracelet. Emily and Sophie entered the decoy car while Lucas and Noah followed at a distance in unmarked vehicles. The commander warned them not to leave the main motel parking area.
During the drive, Sophie stared through the window. She asked why Emily had freed her in the warehouse. Emily answered that pregnancy and past cruelty did not make Sophie disposable.
Sophie’s mouth tightened. She had spent her life believing kindness was strategy performed by people too weak to admit ambition. Emily’s answer left her with a debt she did not know how to carry.
At the motel, Grant called and ordered them to abandon the car. A second vehicle waited with keys inside. Sophie whispered that changing transportation had always been his method for losing surveillance.
Emily drove toward the daycare building while police struggled to follow through patchy tracker coverage. Lucas watched their signal fade beneath the trees and ordered the ground team closer despite the risk of detection.
Grant met them at the entrance. He carried a gun and looked far less confident than the threatening videos suggested. Sophie told him to release Mrs. Davis and reminded him that she had paid for observation, not kidnapping.
Grant laughed. Once Sophie’s fraud collapsed, her money and protection became worthless. The clinic network intended to sell the archive access, and he planned to trade both women if Emily refused to cooperate.
Inside, Mrs. Davis sat conscious but pale. Emily moved toward her. Grant blocked the path and demanded the real codes, convinced the warehouse laptop had been a police replica.
Emily said only Lucas possessed the master authentication. Grant accused her of lying and struck the wall beside her head. Sophie flinched, finally seeing the violence she had once imagined directing from a safe distance.
Sophie told Grant she could obtain the codes if he let Mrs. Davis leave. He no longer trusted her. He revealed saved messages in which Sophie had ordered him to make Emily “disappear” if the pregnancy failed.
Emily looked at Sophie. The fragile trust between them broke. Sophie claimed she had spoken in rage and never intended murder, but the distinction meant little in a room built from those instructions.
Grant tied Emily’s hands and forced Sophie beside Mrs. Davis. He planned to film Emily begging, then sell the recording to tabloids before turning everyone over to the clinic’s remaining buyers.
Mrs. Davis met her daughter’s eyes and told her not to surrender anything. Her voice was weak, yet the familiar resolve steadied Emily more than any rescue promise could have.
Outside, Lucas found the abandoned car. The tracker signal came from Sophie’s discarded coat on the back seat. He studied the tire marks leading beyond the parking lot and recognized that Emily had driven toward the old daycare.
Noah contacted the building’s former owner and obtained a floor plan. A storm cellar beneath the playroom opened near the woods. Police divided into two teams while Lucas insisted on joining the cellar approach.
Grant handed Sophie a camera and ordered her to record. She lifted it with trembling hands. Instead of aiming at Emily, she smashed it against his gun wrist.
The weapon fired into the ceiling. Emily threw herself over her mother while Sophie struggled with Grant. Another man emerged from the hallway and dragged Sophie away by her hair.
The cellar door shifted behind a stack of broken toys. Emily saw Lucas’s hand appear through the gap, but Grant recovered his gun first. He pointed it at Mrs. Davis and ordered everyone to stop—or Emily would watch her mother die before Lucas could cross the room.
