Falling for My Ex’s Mafia Dad — Episode 70

No agency admitted possessing Kent. His original detention center logged a lawful departure, while the receiving facility recorded that the transport never arrived. The vehicle’s tracker stopped beneath a highway tunnel.

Fay recognized the pattern. Grant’s network used official transfers to create spaces where prisoners vanished. Kent was no longer merely detained; he had been taken outside the law.

Victoria forced herself to focus despite exhaustion. Lorenzo kept a covert holding site inside an abandoned courthouse, connected to the same tunnel network used during Elise’s failed relocation.

Ivan insisted on joining the rescue with his wounded shoulder immobilized. Paramedics objected, but he possessed Grant’s access codes and knew how federal transport teams authenticated emergency orders.

Fay permitted his technical help from the command vehicle. He had already taken one bullet; martyrdom would not substitute for testimony.

State officers entered the old courthouse under a judge’s emergency order. The cells were empty, but fresh tire marks led toward a sealed evidence garage.

Inside, they found the transport vehicle and two unconscious guards. Kent’s blood marked the rear door. A camera recording showed masked officers moving him into another car registered to an Alden security company.

Lorenzo had taken Kent. The arrest, transfer, and disappearance were parts of the same bargain: federal authority delivered the Mafia king into his rival’s hands while preserving plausible deniability.

Victoria identified the car’s likely destination as an abandoned Lippert slaughterhouse seized by the Aldens years earlier. Lorenzo favored symbolic locations where enemies died inside the ruins of their own power.

Fay listened without flinching. She had spent months rejecting the role of Mafia daughter, but understanding Lorenzo’s psychology now mattered more than rejecting the blood they shared.

The rescue convoy approached without sirens. Daniel remained beside Fay, while Colin monitored traffic cameras and Mara maintained contact with the judge. Chosen family and lawful authority moved together.

They found Kent tied to a chair beneath hanging chains. Lorenzo stood before him with the original ledger and a live camera intended to record a confession.

Lorenzo wanted Kent to admit ordering Grant’s murder and coercing Fay into the affair. In exchange, he promised Fay would remain safe under Alden control.

Kent refused to rewrite her choice as victimhood, even when Lorenzo struck him. He said Fay’s freedom mattered more than a confession that might shorten his own suffering.

Fay heard the words through an officer’s body camera. Months earlier, Kent had treated freedom as a privilege he dispensed. Now he protected her agency when surrender would save him.

State officers breached the building. Lorenzo escaped through a drainage passage with the ledger, but Kent was recovered alive. His wrists were injured and his face bruised, yet he remained conscious.

Fay reached him after paramedics cut the restraints. Kent asked whether Victoria truly lived. Fay said yes, and that her mother carried evidence capable of separating Grant’s frame from Kent’s real crimes.

Relief crossed his face despite the final phrase. He said the real crimes had to remain. Freedom purchased by another false history would only rebuild Grant’s system under a different name.

Federal marshals arrived with a verified court order. The kidnapping did not cancel Kent’s detention, and he had to return to custody while the evidence was reviewed. Fay kissed him once before they took him.

At the courthouse, prosecutors announced that Kent Lippert had been formally remanded without bail. As the cell door closed, Fay opened Victoria’s surviving files—and found proof that Ivan’s original undercover operation had been designed not to arrest Kent, but to execute him in custody.
