I Have Five Kick-Ass Brothers – Episode 63

The genetic counselor warned them against guessing. Eli’s results suggested a second-degree relationship, compatible with a cousin, nephew, or grandchild of an older generation.

Mrs. Lincoln remembered a younger sister who disappeared after a family dispute. Evelyn had rejected the Lincoln fortune and never contacted them again.

Noah searched private family files and found yearly payments their grandmother had made to a women’s shelter. The last payment ended shortly before Eli entered foster care.

Eli had been told his mother died under the name Eva Mercer. The death certificate contained no relatives and listed her birthplace incorrectly.

Raina saw the pattern clearly. Evelyn had not hidden a secret Lincoln son; she had hidden herself, and Grace’s network later exploited the abandoned records.

A court-authorized comparison confirmed Mrs. Lincoln and Eva Mercer were sisters. Eli was their nephew and the brothers’ first cousin.

The answer gave him blood relatives without granting the story he had been promised. He asked whether the Lincolns would have searched for him if he possessed no trust account.

Raina answered honestly. They had not known he existed, but now that they did, money would not decide whether the door remained open.

The five brothers did not overwhelm him with vows. Noah offered records, Henry offered a meal, Joshua offered protection, Luke offered privacy, and Mathew offered time.

Eli accepted only the records. He needed to learn who his mother had been before joining anyone else’s family photograph.

At Halcyon’s abandoned office, investigators recovered the original contingency ledger. ā€œEliasā€ was indeed the male alias assigned to protect any missing Lincoln daughter.

Raina was its intended beneficiary. Her grandmother had chosen a son’s name because the trust’s outdated charter allowed only male heirs to hold emergency voting shares.

The discovery angered Raina more than it enriched her. Even a woman trying to save her had needed to disguise her as a man.

She declined immediate control and asked the board to reform the charter before any assets moved. Noah supported the decision without hesitation.

Halcyon’s server had awakened because Raina’s marriage license matched both her recovered birth record and the old alias file. The one-dollar payments were an automated identity check.

Yet someone had altered the program to notify Mara’s marketplace at the same moment. The final intrusion used credentials belonging to Grace.

Grace was in custody when it occurred. Her attorney confirmed the credentials had been sold years earlier as part of Victor’s archive.

Luke traced the purchaser to a sealed online auction scheduled to close in forty-eight hours. The listing offered ā€œthe last authentic Lincoln nursery record.ā€

Eli recognized the seller’s logo. It appeared on the envelope containing his forged birth certificate.

When Luke opened the preview file, an old hospital video showed two bassinets—and a nurse carrying baby Raina toward an unmarked exit.
