I Have Five Kick-Ass Brothers – Episode 62
Grace’s presence in the photograph made the document dangerous, but not genuine. The same image had been cropped so Mrs. Lincoln appeared to hold a newborn whose face was hidden.
Henry located the original charity photograph. Mrs. Lincoln had been visiting a maternity ward, and the infant belonged to another patient.
Eli stared at the comparison until hope hardened into humiliation. Someone had studied his need for a family and constructed one he could be paid to hate.
Raina understood that injury. She told him discovering a lie did not make the longing behind it foolish.
The promised legal-aid volunteer used the name Mara Vale. Luke traced her calls to a prepaid phone activated near the courthouse during Raina and Theo’s ceremony.
Joshua arranged a protected interview. Eli surrendered the phone and agreed to cancel the press conference, but Raina suggested they let Mara believe it would proceed.
Noah worried about placing Eli in public danger. Eli answered that strangers had already written his life; he wanted one decision that belonged to him.
The next morning, reporters filled a rented hotel room. Eli walked to the podium while the Lincolns watched from a secured suite.
He began with the prepared accusation. Mara, disguised as a production assistant, moved closer to confirm he followed the script.
Then Eli stopped. He announced that his records were fabricated and asked the woman who recruited him to explain why.
Mara fled through the service corridor. Joshua’s officers blocked the street exit, while Theo’s security team sealed the loading dock without touching the evidence.
She discarded a wig and badge, but cameras followed her into the laundry room. Raina recognized her as the clerk who had delivered Zoey Grant’s false guardian agreement.
Mara surrendered after Luke remotely locked the freight elevator. Her phone contained photographs of hundreds of sealed maternity files.
She denied knowing Victor personally. An encrypted marketplace paid her to match vulnerable adults with dormant identities left in Grace’s archive.
The Elias profile offered the largest reward. Its buyer wanted a claimant who resembled the Lincoln brothers and could survive a superficial DNA test.
A laboratory message on Mara’s phone confirmed that such a test had already been arranged. The reference sample came from a “family-authorized collection.”
No Lincoln had authorized one. Mathew remembered a waiter collecting their glasses during the wedding celebration.
Police recovered the discarded glassware from a private medical courier. The chain led to a laboratory owned through one of Carlisle’s former shell companies.
Raina expected another forged result. Instead, the legitimate laboratory called with a preliminary finding that made the room silent.
Eli shared enough genetic markers with the Lincolns to be a close blood relative—but he could not be their brother.
