Twilight Romance: Flash Marriage to Mature Tycoon – Episode 54

No formal invitation existed. Violet had drafted several designs, but none had left her computer. The copy found in Summer’s car contained a date three weeks away and named the foundation courtyard as the venue.

Ray canceled every tentative plan. Jocelyn objected to allowing Summer to determine their marriage schedule, yet she agreed that gathering family at a predictable location would be reckless while Summer remained missing.

Violet felt responsible for storing the designs on a shared household tablet. Ray reminded her that security failures belonged to adults and professionals. Jocelyn added that creativity was not culpability.

Investigators concluded Summer had arranged the medical evaluation through a private physician. During transport, paperwork redirected officers to the wrong entrance. A waiting car collected her before the error was noticed.

The escape required money and planning, but her accounts were frozen. Ray suspected she had hidden resources long before returning to California. Astor auditors began tracing old transfers from the former marital trust.

Jocelyn resumed work at the foundation center under increased security. She refused to close programs because of a threat directed at her. Staff received clear emergency procedures without being frightened by unnecessary details.

The first caregiver workshop opened with twelve women around the same folding table where Jocelyn once interviewed. Some had left careers to raise children; others had cared for aging parents until their résumés appeared empty. Jocelyn recognized the invisible labor in every story.

She taught no magical solution. The program offered skills assessment, financial counseling, childcare, and paid placements. Practical support respected participants more than inspirational speeches alone.

Ray visited only after working hours. He carried takeout and followed the same security process as everyone else. Jocelyn teased that the chairman looked offended by the visitor badge.

He admitted he disliked any barrier between them, then corrected himself: disliking a boundary did not make it wrong. She kissed his cheek as a reward for learning.

Their ordinary evening ended when an alarm reported movement in the unfinished garden. Security found no intruder, only a speaker hidden beneath the herb planters. When activated, it played Summer’s recorded voice.

The message accused Ray of choosing Jocelyn because she was easy to control. It told Jocelyn that every career opportunity, lawyer, guard, and home still came from his empire. Summer understood which doubt could wound more deeply than threats.

Ray ordered the device preserved and waited for Jocelyn to respond. She admitted the accusation contained a question worth examining, even if Summer delivered it cruelly. Financial independence within extreme wealth required deliberate structure.

They reviewed their household arrangements that night. Jocelyn maintained her own account, salary, and legal counsel, but the small house remained owned by Ray. Transportation and security were paid entirely through Astor Group.

Ray offered to transfer half of every asset. Jocelyn refused the reflexive grand gesture. She wanted a fair marital agreement created with separate attorneys, not wealth poured over discomfort until it disappeared.

They agreed to negotiate finances before any second ceremony. Love did not become less sincere when written terms protected both people. Ray wished he had understood that before their first wedding.

The hidden speaker carried a serial number from a store near the hometown. Security footage showed a woman resembling Summer purchasing it in cash, but the image was several days old. She could now be anywhere.

Violet proposed releasing a false wedding date to draw Summer into surveillance. Ray rejected using their family as bait. Jocelyn agreed that safety plans should not turn a ceremony into another trap.

Instead, police circulated Summer’s warrant without mentioning the wedding. Ray and Jocelyn continued their legal and financial discussions privately. Refusing to perform panic became its own form of resistance.

Then Jocelyn’s independent attorney discovered a clause in Ray’s original estate plan. If he died while married, control of Astor Group would pass temporarily to his legal spouse—and Summer had obtained a copy days before disappearing.
