Married at First Sight – Episode 82

Christian called the estate while agents intercepted the delivery. Grandma Norton’s current medication remained sealed and safe, but the replacement contained a lethal concentration.

The prescription carried Ward’s physician credentials and Victoria’s electronic authorization. Neither woman had access to the pharmacy system.

Investigators traced the order to an automated Continuum server. Ward had built contingency programs capable of initiating attacks when specified events occurred.

Her arrest had triggered the first sequence. Mercer’s failed poisoning triggered another. Mateo’s birth activated the last.

The server was hosted inside Norton Enterprises under an obsolete research account. Shutting it down risked erasing evidence and releasing additional commands.

Christian ordered the company network isolated from hospitals, banks, and security systems. Business operations stopped worldwide.

The board warned that every hour would cost millions. He answered that the company had already spent generations charging human beings for its convenience.

Maya and the trust’s forensic team entered the server through the offline archive. They found twelve pending commands and canceled each through dual verification.

One would have exposed Lena’s location. Another would have altered Alexander’s medication. A third would have sent fabricated evidence accusing Summer of funding Continuum herself.

Summer read the list without flinching. Ward’s final weapon was not science but the expectation that powerful people would protect reputation before lives.

Christian published the shutdown and its reason. Customers left, markets fell, and employees learned the truth before rumors could weaponize it.

Alexander recorded his own statement. He described his captivity and admitted the ways fear had once made him accept secrecy after his rescue.

Grandma Norton appeared beside him. She named the authorizations she had signed and the questions she had chosen not to ask.

Their confession deprived Ward’s schedule of its intended spectacle. Truth offered freely could no longer be extracted as humiliation.

Technicians copied the server for prosecutors, then physically disconnected it. No dormant command remained connected to the outside world.

For the first time since the Continuum files surfaced, every known active system was dark.

Lena left the hospital through a protected route with Mateo. She chose to recover at her sister’s new residence, monitored by security she could dismiss.

Before leaving, she allowed Summer to hold the baby. Summer asked first, even after everything they had survived together.

Mateo opened his eyes briefly and closed them again, uninterested in the bloodlines that had nearly swallowed his life.

That evening, Ward requested one final meeting—not with prosecutors, but with Summer.
