Twilight Romance: Flash Marriage to Mature Tycoon – Episode 17
Ray closed the car door without asking Jocelyn to get inside. Traffic moved around them, but the space between husband and wife felt isolated from the city. He had rehearsed the truth many times and always postponed it. Now every possible beginning sounded like another defense.
“I am connected to Astor Group,” he said. Jocelyn’s expression did not change. He admitted that his role was senior enough to influence projects and reviews, and that the house had not been purchased on a construction wage. Each fact loosened another thread in the identity he had shown her.
She waited for the title. Ray could see the question in her eyes, but before he spoke, Harry burst from the diner holding his phone. Stacy had taken Caleb and threatened not to return unless Harry apologized to Tony and cut contact with Jocelyn.
Jocelyn’s anger shifted instantly toward her grandson’s safety. She asked whether Caleb had enough formula and medication for his reflux. Harry did not know; the baby bag remained at the townhouse. Ray recognized panic approaching and told him they would retrieve it first.
“We are not finished,” Jocelyn warned. Ray agreed. The confession would continue, but protecting Caleb could not wait. They drove to the townhouse with Harry following close behind.
Inside, the nursery looked as if Stacy had left in haste. Jocelyn packed bottles, medicine, diapers, and the blanket Caleb preferred. Her competence steadied Harry, who had spent months being told he could not care for his own child without the Smiths’ money.
Ray used the moment to call his assistant. He requested the address of Tony’s second home and a welfare check if Caleb was not returned voluntarily. Jocelyn overheard enough to realize his resources extended beyond ordinary business contacts. She said nothing, but the silence reminded him that time had not forgiven the lie.
They reached the Smith estate before sunset. Security guards blocked the gate, claiming Harry was not authorized to enter. Harry stared at the house where his wife and son waited, stunned that Tony had excluded him from his own family.
Ray stepped from the car and made one call. Within minutes, the guards received new instructions from the company that employed them. The gates opened. Harry looked at Ray with open disbelief, while Jocelyn felt the truth approaching from every direction.
Tony met them in the foyer. He demanded Harry apologize before seeing Caleb. Harry refused and said fatherhood was not a privilege Tony could revoke. Stacy descended the staircase carrying the crying baby, her face rigid with resentment.
Caleb’s cries sounded weak from exhaustion. Jocelyn saw the wrong formula on a nearby table and asked when he had last eaten properly. Stacy accused her of acting superior again. Ray’s restraint began to fracture.
Harry crossed the room and took his son. This time, he did not ask permission. He handed Caleb to Jocelyn long enough to prepare a bottle, then told Stacy that weaponizing their child ended now.
Tony ordered security to remove them. No one moved. Ray informed him that the guards had been instructed to prioritize the infant’s welfare and legal custody rights. Tony demanded to know who had given Ray that authority.
“Someone your money cannot intimidate,” Ray replied. The answer carried the weight of a title he still had not spoken. Jocelyn looked at him across the foyer, gratitude and hurt living side by side.
Caleb finally drank, his small body relaxing against her. Harry watched with tears in his eyes. He told Stacy he was taking his son home and that she could return only when she was ready to discuss their marriage without her parents controlling it.
Stacy slapped him. The sound cracked through the room. Wendy gasped, Tony swore, and Jocelyn instinctively stepped forward, but Harry did not retaliate or retreat.
He said the marriage needed separation, not another apology. Then he carried Caleb toward the door. Stacy screamed that he would have nothing without the Smith family. Harry answered that he had a mother who taught him how to begin with nothing.
Jocelyn followed, shaken but proud. At the threshold, Tony seized Ray’s arm and whispered that he would expose him before the Astor board. Ray removed the hand and said Tony should be certain whom the board would believe.
Back at the cars, Harry thanked Ray for opening the gate. “Whoever you are, you saved my son,” he said. Ray looked at Jocelyn, knowing gratitude could not purchase trust. She asked Harry to take Caleb somewhere safe and promised to call later.
When they were alone again, Jocelyn faced her husband beneath the estate lights. “You command corporate reviews, security companies, and men who fear your name,” she said. “So tell me, Ray—are you the man who works for Astor Group, or are you Astor Group?”
