Hillbilly Girlie Marries a Billionaire – Episode 34
Lucas froze behind the partially opened cellar door. Grant stood where any shot risked hitting Mrs. Davis. Emily remained crouched beside her mother, wrists bound, while Sophie fought to breathe beneath the second man’s grip.
Grant ordered Lucas into the room and made him surrender his weapon. Lucas complied, keeping his movements slow. His presence changed the balance even without a gun; Grant’s confidence became louder and less controlled.
The kidnapper demanded Lucas unlock the genetic archive remotely. Lucas explained that the system required biometric access from company headquarters. Grant accused him of stalling and pressed the barrel against Mrs. Davis’s shoulder.
Emily told Lucas not to give them anything. Hundreds of innocent families depended on the archive remaining private. Her mother agreed, refusing to let fear turn other people’s identities into ransom.
Grant dragged Emily upright instead. He said if Lucas would not sacrifice data, he could watch his wife humiliated. The second man produced a phone and moved closer to her.
Sophie shouted that this had never been the plan. Grant reminded her that she once wanted photographs of Emily compromised by another man. The cruelty she had imagined as revenge now stood before her without the safe distance of fantasy.
“I was wrong,” Sophie said. The words were small but clear. She drove her elbow into the second man and broke free long enough to shove Emily behind her.
Grant swung the gun toward Sophie. Lucas moved at the same instant, knocking his arm aside. The shot shattered a window while Emily pulled her mother to the floor.
Noah and the tactical team entered through the main hall. The second attacker tried to escape but collided with officers. Grant and Lucas struggled near the broken window, each fighting for control of the weapon.
Emily cut her bindings against a shard of metal beneath an overturned chair. She reached for the dropped phone and slid it across the floor to Sophie, who called out Grant’s position to the officers.
Grant struck Lucas’s injured shoulder. Pain weakened his grip, and the gun turned toward Emily. Before Grant could fire, Noah tackled him from the side.
Police secured both men. The room fell into a stunned quiet broken by Mrs. Davis’s coughing. Paramedics rushed in with oxygen and carried her outside.
Emily followed until she saw Lucas lean against the wall, blood seeping through the shoulder wound reopened during the fight. She turned back and wrapped an arm around him. He said he was fine; she told him she was officially banning that phrase.
Sophie stood alone near the broken camera. An officer approached with handcuffs. She did not resist. Her choice to help had saved lives, but it could not erase the orders that made the kidnapping possible.
Emily asked that Sophie receive medical care before questioning. Sophie stared at her, confused by mercy she had not earned. Emily clarified that the request was for the unborn child, not absolution.
Grant began shouting as officers took him away. He claimed Sophie had paid for Emily’s destruction and should share every charge. Sophie closed her eyes, accepting that cooperation would not protect her from truth.
At the hospital, doctors stabilized Mrs. Davis and found no lasting damage beyond exhaustion. Lucas required fresh stitches. Emily moved between their rooms, unwilling to leave either person she loved.
Noah gave police all records connecting Sophie, Grant, the clinic technician, and the genetic fraud. The network had collapsed. Yet the commander warned that Sophie’s own messages supported conspiracy and attempted kidnapping charges.
Sophie signed a complete confession. She admitted arranging surveillance, stealing Victoria’s identity, bribing clinic workers, and telling Grant to remove Emily if necessary. She denied ordering harm to Mrs. Davis but accepted that her words created the danger.
Before officers transferred her, Sophie requested one minute with Emily. Through the guarded doorway, she said, “I saved you too late to call myself good.” Emily answered that one right decision did not erase the past—but it might decide who Sophie became after paying for it.
