Twilight Romance: Flash Marriage to Mature Tycoon – Episode 37
Jocelyn showed Ray the message rather than hiding it. Weeks earlier, fear might have driven her into another secret meeting; now she understood that independence did not require isolation. Ray read the threat and asked how she wanted to respond.
They agreed Jocelyn would meet Stacy in a public café while security observed from outside. Harry would be informed after Jocelyn confirmed Stacy was safe. The plan respected Stacy’s request enough to keep her talking without surrendering common sense.
Stacy arrived wearing yesterday’s clothes and dark glasses. She checked the street repeatedly before sitting. Her old arrogance had been replaced by fear sharp enough to make Jocelyn cautious rather than satisfied.
She admitted copying Jocelyn’s identification at Tony’s request. He had claimed the documents were needed to verify whether Jocelyn’s debts could affect Harry. Stacy had obeyed because she still believed her father protected the family.
After the Smith deal collapsed, Tony used the copies to create the false account. Summer supplied the money and Astor information, while someone inside the company arranged the timing. Stacy had discovered messages on Tony’s old tablet.
Jocelyn asked why Caleb was in danger. Stacy explained that Tony threatened to report Harry for financial fraud using forged records tied to the townhouse. If Harry were arrested, Tony would petition for temporary custody through Wendy.
“He is using your son,” Jocelyn said. Stacy’s mouth tightened. Hearing the accusation no longer produced denial; it produced shame.
She slid the tablet across the table. The messages proved Tony and Summer had discussed the account, but the insider used a code name. One instruction referenced the board secretary’s access badge.
Jocelyn told Stacy to preserve the device and cooperate with police. Stacy feared her own role in stealing the identification would lead to charges. Jocelyn refused to promise immunity she could not grant.
“Doing the right thing after harm does not erase the harm,” Jocelyn said. “It decides what kind of person you become next.” Stacy looked down at the hands that had once destroyed Jocelyn’s gift and nodded.
Ray entered only after Jocelyn signaled. Stacy tensed at the sight of him, expecting punishment. He said the independent investigators, not he, would determine consequences.
Harry arrived moments later with Caleb. When Stacy confessed what she had done, hurt and anger crossed his face. She did not blame Tony, counseling, or fear; she admitted she had made the choice herself.
Harry thanked her for protecting Caleb now but said reconciliation remained far away. Stacy accepted the boundary. It was the first apology she offered without demanding an immediate reward.
The tablet went to investigators. Forensic technicians confirmed the messages were authentic and traced several logins to Tony’s office. Police obtained a warrant before he could destroy additional records.
At Astor headquarters, the board secretary broke down when confronted with her badge data. She admitted lending it to an executive who claimed Ray had authorized an emergency review. She had hidden the mistake out of fear of losing her job.
The investigator asked her to identify the executive. Before she could answer, the building alarm activated and the interview room lost power. Emergency lights cast the hallway in red.
Security sealed the exits. When power returned, the tablet containing the secretary’s recorded statement was missing. Someone had used the alarm to enter the room.
Ray ordered a floor-by-floor search but remained recused from the evidence review. Jocelyn saw how much discipline the boundary required. He was learning that power could protect truth best by refusing to touch it.
The secretary was moved to a secure location. She whispered the executive’s name to the investigator, who wrote it down rather than speaking near compromised systems. The paper was sealed in an evidence envelope.
Before the investigator could leave, a shot cracked through the parking structure below. Security rushed toward the sound, and Jocelyn realized the hidden partner was no longer relying on gossip and forged accounts.
