Twilight Romance: Flash Marriage to Mature Tycoon – Episode 19

The reporters’ voices climbed through Mary’s windows. Jocelyn stood behind the curtain, watching cameras gather below as if she were a criminal under siege. The article had reduced her entire life to a scheme: an aging maid targeting a lonely billionaire through his daughter. Every kindness she had offered Violet now looked calculated in print.

Mary urged her not to read the comments, but Jocelyn had already seen enough. Strangers called her greedy, predatory, and desperate. The accusations hurt because they echoed the suspicion that had led Ray to disguise himself. Even after marrying her, he had helped create the story the public now believed.

Ray learned of the leak during an emergency board meeting. His public relations team recommended silence until they traced the source. He rejected the advice. Silence might protect Astor Group, but it would leave Jocelyn alone beneath an accusation born from his lie.

He ordered the company to issue a statement confirming that Jocelyn had never sought money, shares, or employment through their marriage. He also demanded legal action against outlets publishing private information. The directors warned that defending her so aggressively could intensify the scandal.

“Then let it intensify around me,” Ray said. “She did nothing wrong.” His certainty ended the debate. For once, he used his authority not to control Jocelyn’s circumstances but to accept responsibility for them.

Violet called Jocelyn before Ray could. She apologized for keeping the secret and explained that her father had feared repeating old betrayals. Jocelyn told her the blame belonged to the adult who designed the test, not the child who had wanted a family.

Violet began to cry. She worried Jocelyn would disappear from her life again. Jocelyn’s own eyes filled, but she refused to make a promise while hurt still governed her future. She said their relationship mattered independently of Ray, and they would speak when the reporters were gone.

Outside, the crowd suddenly shifted. Ray’s car stopped at the curb, and he stepped into the storm of cameras without security clearing a path. Questions struck him from every direction. He ignored them until he stood beneath Mary’s window.

Ray faced the microphones and stated that he had concealed his identity from Jocelyn before their marriage. She had accepted him believing he was a construction worker with an ordinary income. “If anyone acted dishonestly, it was me,” he said. “My wife deserves neither suspicion nor blame.”

The confession spread live across every network carrying the story. In the apartment, Jocelyn watched him surrender the polished image Astor Group guarded so fiercely. He did not call the deception romantic or harmless. He named it as a failure of trust.

Tony watched the broadcast from his office and realized his attack had backfired. Public sympathy began shifting toward Jocelyn, while reporters asked who had leaked the private photographs. Astor investigators were already tracing the files to an account connected to Tony’s assistant.

Wendy urged him to retreat. Tony refused, convinced that losing the Astor contract would ruin the social position he had spent decades building. He ordered Stacy to claim Jocelyn had manipulated Harry’s family long before meeting Ray.

Stacy hesitated for the first time. Harry had taken Caleb and stopped answering her calls. Supporting another attack might end her marriage permanently. Tony reminded her that without Smith money, she would be an abandoned mother with no career of her own.

At Mary’s building, reporters demanded to know whether Ray expected forgiveness. He answered that Jocelyn owed him nothing. His only purpose was to correct the lie being told about her. Then he stepped away from the cameras and waited across the street rather than forcing entry.

Hours passed. Rain began, scattering some reporters, but Ray remained beside his car. Mary watched him from the window and observed that billionaires were apparently as foolish in the rain as ordinary husbands. Jocelyn almost smiled.

She finally went downstairs beneath Mary’s umbrella. Ray straightened when he saw her but made no move closer. Water darkened his coat, and exhaustion had carved lines around his eyes.

Jocelyn thanked him for telling the truth publicly. She made clear that defending her reputation did not repair their marriage. Ray said he understood and handed her a folder containing ownership papers for the house, signed entirely into her name.

She refused the folder. “You still think security is something you can hand me,” she said. “What I needed was a choice before the wedding.” Ray lowered the papers, accepting another lesson he could not buy his way around.

A new burst of camera flashes erupted. Stacy had arrived with Wendy and a reporter, claiming she possessed proof Jocelyn had planned the marriage. Harry pulled up behind them with Caleb, having learned what his wife intended to do.

Stacy raised a recording device and announced that Jocelyn’s own words would expose her. Harry stepped between his mother and the cameras. “Play it,” he said, his voice steady. “Then I’ll tell everyone what you did to her—and what your father did to Astor Group.”
