The Virgin’s Bucket List – Episode 20

The game began while Alyssa’s scheduled post counted down on her phone. Lindsay knew the accusation was false, but online lies traveled faster than investigations. By the time Maple Hill proved Wayne had not cheated, Mr. Russell might already have left.

Alyssa demanded an answer. Lindsay could publicly reject Wayne and claim the party kiss meant nothing, or watch his future collapse beneath another edited video. The bargain resembled every trap Alyssa had set: surrender disguised as choice.

Lindsay agreed to make an announcement at halftime. Alyssa smiled and paused the scheduled upload, confident that humiliation had finally defeated resistance. Lindsay walked toward the bleachers without revealing what she actually intended to say.

On the field, Wayne struggled during the opening drive. He kept glancing toward the sideline, where Lindsay stood beside Alyssa. A hard tackle sent him into the turf, and fear rippled through the crowd before he rose.

Mike called him over and ordered him to focus. Then, instead of threatening his recommendation, he asked whether Lindsay was in danger. The question showed how much their confrontation had changed him.

Wayne explained Alyssa’s pattern of coercion as quickly as he could. Mike told him to trust Lindsay and play the next drive. Coach and player finally agreed that protecting her did not mean taking away her chance to fight.

Lindsay found Phoebe and Jeremy beneath the stands. Jeremy understood video editing and asked Alyssa’s former friend for access to the original classroom files. Phoebe gathered messages showing that Alyssa had planned the false accusation before the game.

Together they sent the evidence to the school principal and Mr. Russell. Lindsay did not know whether either would act in time. Halftime arrived with Maple Hill six points behind and the crowd restless.

Alyssa handed Lindsay the stadium microphone. “Tell them he means nothing,” she whispered. Phones rose throughout the stands as students recognized the girl at the center of the school’s most notorious bet.

Lindsay looked across the field at Wayne. Months earlier, she had believed getting a boyfriend would prove she was desirable. Now she understood that dignity could not be won through someone else’s approval and love could not survive as evidence in a contest.

She told the crowd the truth. She had accepted a cruel wager because she was ashamed of being inexperienced. She had tried to turn romance into a deadline and nearly hurt someone she cared about. But no rumor, dare, or threat would decide whom she kissed or when.

Then she exposed Alyssa’s latest blackmail attempt. The stadium screens changed as Jeremy transmitted the original files to the control booth. Messages, timestamps, and unedited footage appeared where the halftime score had been.

The principal approached Alyssa with two staff members. Stripped of her audience’s automatic loyalty, Alyssa insisted that everything had been a joke. Lindsay replied that humiliation stopped being a joke when the victim asked it to stop.

Alyssa was escorted from the field pending investigation. The crowd did not cheer at first; students simply watched the power she had cultivated disappear. Then the girl Lindsay had saved from the football began applauding, and others joined until the sound filled the stadium.

Wayne met Lindsay near the sideline. In front of Mike, Mr. Russell, and the entire school, he asked whether she still wanted the boyfriend she had once wished for. Lindsay said she did, but only if he wanted a girlfriend who made mistakes, challenged coaches, and occasionally confused real men with robots.

Wayne laughed and told her that was exactly the girl he wanted. He kissed her beneath the stadium lights, not to fulfill Alyssa’s wager but to make a promise of their own. The crowd’s reaction became background noise as Lindsay chose him freely.

Inspired by the moment, Wayne returned to the field and led Maple Hill’s final drive. With seconds remaining, he threw the winning touchdown—the childhood promise he and Lindsay had written years ago. Mr. Russell closed his notebook with an approving smile.

After the celebration, he offered Wayne a formal campus visit and told Lindsay the university also had an excellent writing program. Their future now seemed wider than the boundaries of Maple Hill. Then Julie called with unexpected news: she had found another page from Lindsay’s childhood bucket list, and one unfinished promise involved Wayne’s family—a promise neither of them remembered making.
