Reborn to Love Mr. Right – Episode 88

Four years after Arianna arrived on campus, the university map had softened along its folds. Coffee stained one corner, and Hayden’s sentence remained visible inside: call when you want me there.

She had called many times. Sometimes he came; sometimes a board vote, storm, illness, or exam changed the plan. Their relationship survived because neither treated every absence as proof of an old betrayal.

Arianna completed her thesis on rights for people subjected to predictive systems. She used public court records from the continuity cases but excluded her own sealed memories.

Her faculty adviser challenged her conclusions for months. Arianna revised the work when evidence required it and defended it when authority merely preferred convenience.

A national civil-rights institute offered her a position building standards for neurological and behavioral data. The job was based in the same city as the university, far from both family companies.

Taylor’s board offered a competing executive role. Donald delivered the proposal without adding that her mother would have wanted her home.

Arianna chose the institute. She retained her Taylor shares and a future right to seek board election, but inheritance would no longer determine her first profession.

Donald needed an evening to accept the decision. The next morning, he asked how Taylor Industries could support the institute without purchasing influence.

Hayden celebrated, then admitted the distance would continue. Scott Global still required him near its headquarters while the last reforms became permanent.

They discussed apartments, travel budgets, and the exhaustion of airports. Love did not make logistics romantic, but it made honest planning worth the trouble.

Hayden did not propose as graduation approached. Years earlier, a contract had tried to determine their marriage before either could choose. He refused to let a ceremonial deadline recreate that pressure.

Arianna appreciated his restraint and wondered whether he mistook it for a requirement to wait forever. Instead of testing him, she asked.

He said he wanted marriage. He also wanted the question to arrive after they decided where their adult lives were heading, not as a solution to uncertainty.

She told him she wanted it too. The conversation left no surprise about their intentions, only freedom about timing and form.

Maya overheard enough to complain that they had transformed romance into a governance meeting. Arianna replied that governance mattered most when two people planned to share power.

Emmy arrived for graduation week with a conference medal and three garment bags. She had accepted a coaching fellowship near the Choice Center.

Ivy sent a brief congratulations from her nursing program. Derek’s annual letter remained unopened in Arianna’s legal file, available if she ever chose to read it.

On the evening before commencement, Donald announced that he would step down as Taylor chief executive within a year. An independent search would choose his successor.

He did not reserve the position for Arianna. She did not promise to claim it later. For the first time, the company’s future could continue without being confused with the family’s love.

As Arianna laid out her graduation gown, an airline alert confirmed Hayden’s morning flight. This time, she smiled at the message and went to sleep.
