My Alpha Boss Gave Me Triplets – Episode 79

The silver line on Mara’s drawing formed words only when Evie held Hope near it. Leopold stepped back before the message could mistake his presence for permission.

Mara’s voice filled the nursery, older and gentler than the warning hidden in the Stonehearth seal. She spoke to the woman who would someday free her children from a legacy built around ownership.

“Do not take my place beside their Alpha,” the message said. “Make a place from which no Alpha can remove you.”

The drawing changed. Beneath the house appeared a charter for an office Mara had proposed generations earlier: a guardian chosen by families, independent of the Alpha, with authority over shelters, children, and anyone endangered by pack power.

The council had erased the proposal and reduced Mara’s public identity to mate and mother. The title of Luna had later absorbed ceremonial fragments of her work while denying its independent authority.

Evie understood the final challenge. Accepting the existing Luna title would place her beside Leopold; restoring Mara’s office would let her stand opposite him whenever protection required resistance.

Leopold read the charter without defensiveness. It gave the guardian power to suspend an Alpha’s domestic order, open territorial shelters, request neutral review, and protect children from succession claims.

“It can overrule me,” he said.

“That is why it matters.”

The elders argued that two authorities would divide Stonehearth. Evie answered that unchecked unity had hidden abuse, stolen children, and preserved a curse for generations. Division of power was not weakness when the alternative was silence.

Sara Vale verified that Mara’s family archive contained drafts of the same charter. The proposal predated the curse, proving Mara tried law before grief drove her to magic.

Evie refused immediate appointment. If the office existed to challenge inherited power, it could not be handed to the Alpha’s fiancée as a romantic gift.

She proposed an open election after public debate. Human partners, unaffiliated residents, mixed families, and adult pack members would all receive a vote.

Marcus warned that outsiders could control Stonehearth policy. Evie reminded him that the people most vulnerable to pack decisions had long been treated as outsiders precisely when their voices mattered.

Leopold placed the proposal before the council and announced that he would support the result even if voters selected someone who opposed him. Several elders demanded he invoke Alpha privilege.

He formally surrendered that privilege before they could finish.

The act completed what the broken curse had begun. The Stonehearth seal reshaped itself, replacing a closed circle around the Alpha crest with three open paths.

Mara’s message faded, leaving one final sentence visible on the paper: freedom was not a gift from a good ruler; it was the power to survive a bad one.

Nominations opened that evening. Evie entered only after retreat workers, human employees, and Stonehearth parents submitted her name together.

Her first opponent was not an elder but Sara Vale, who announced that family history should be tested through debate rather than turned into automatic agreement.
