My Alpha Boss Gave Me Triplets – Episode 41

The silver strip on the forest road proved Evie was alive when the truck passed. Leopold wanted to follow the scent immediately, but Max found three sets of tire tracks splitting beyond the marker. Darleen had prepared decoy vehicles, and choosing the wrong trail could cost the time Evie had created for them.

Human investigators photographed the tracks while Stonehearth wolves searched for scent beyond the gravel. Blackhart magic contaminated two routes with Evie’s perfume and hospital disinfectant. The third smelled of nothing, an absence so complete that Max suspected it had been deliberately concealed.

Leopold remembered Evie’s work. She hid protection inside ordinary architecture, expecting an observer to notice the obvious path first. ā€œShe would mark the route Darleen tried hardest to erase.ā€

They followed the scentless track without crossing the Blackhart border. The road ended near an abandoned quarry once shared by both packs. Old agreements classified it as neutral commercial land, allowing Stonehearth investigators to enter without declaring invasion. Max transmitted the deed and boundary maps to human authorities before anyone advanced, creating a record Darleen could not later rewrite. Leopold hated the delay, but Evie had already taught him that a rescue without evidence could become another weapon in the kidnapper’s hands.

Inside the truck, Evie pretended the drug still controlled her. Cristin repaired the fetal monitor, then increased the sedative when one heartbeat accelerated. Evie slowed her breathing and kept the loosened screw hidden beneath her palm.

The false attorney reported that the legal order was already collapsing. Darleen’s plan required them to reach the transfer point before police identified the stolen account. Cristin ordered the driver to leave the highway and take the quarry route.

Evie counted turns by pressure against the gurney. When the truck slowed on a steep descent, she unscrewed a metal bracket and slipped it into the door latch. The mechanism could not close fully after the next stop, though the dashboard still showed it locked.

She asked for water and used the conversation to learn their destination. Cristin said only that Darleen intended to protect the heirs from a father too weak to complete the claiming. Her certainty revealed that the kidnapping was not merely leverage. Darleen believed she had a right to the children.

ā€œThey will never be yours,ā€ Evie said.

ā€œThey belong to the Luna who can keep them alive.ā€ Cristin glanced at the monitor. ā€œA human body is temporary. A bloodline is not.ā€

The truck stopped inside a quarry shed. Evie heard two more vehicles arrive, confirming the decoys had reunited. Through a gap near the floor, she saw drivers exchanging license plates and magnetic company logos so every vehicle would leave with a new identity. Darleen’s people intended to transfer her again before any search team chose the correct trail. Evie scraped the loosened screw across the gurney frame, leaving bright metal filings that could cling to whichever truck carried her next.

Leopold’s convoy approached without sirens. A drone found heat inside three identical sheds, each surrounded by Blackhart scent wards. Entering the wrong structure might alert the others and send Evie deeper into disputed territory.

Through the damaged bond, Leopold searched for emotion and felt only static. Instead of forcing the connection, he remembered Evie’s protocol. Open courtyard meant safe but watched. North window meant immediate danger. He whispered both phrases, hoping intention could cross where sensation could not.

Evie heard nothing, yet the triplet who usually responded first moved toward her left side. A second followed. Their movement pointed toward the shed wall facing the road, as if answering something beyond her senses.

She kicked the compromised rear door. It opened a finger’s width before the false attorney grabbed it, but daylight flashed across the reflective lining of her hospital gown. A drone camera caught the signal.

Max identified the middle shed. Human officers blocked the exits while wolves remained beyond the scent wards. A tactical commander warned that armed suspects might use Evie as cover if the entry became loud. Leopold agreed to a silent breach through an old conveyor passage shown on the quarry plans. He entered with only Max, sacrificing numerical strength to avoid triggering the magic. The Alpha who once solved every insult through dominance now placed the rescue plan above his need to lead from the front.

Cristin heard the outer lock break and pushed Evie’s gurney toward a rear tunnel. The false attorney drew a gun. Evie jammed the metal bracket into the wheel, overturning the gurney before they could move her.

The fall sent pain through her hip but spared her abdomen. It also broke the monitor lead, and three alarms filled the shed. Leopold felt the impact as a faint spark inside the silent bond.

He followed it through the smoke-dark corridor. Max disarmed the attorney while Leopold tore open the tunnel gate. Cristin stood behind Evie with a syringe pressed to her neck.

ā€œOne step and I give her enough to stop all four hearts,ā€ Cristin warned.

Leopold stopped. He could kill Cristin before a human eye registered movement, but not before her hand completed the smallest motion. For once, strength offered no safe answer.

Evie met his gaze and moved two fingers against the floor: north window. She was in immediate danger, but the signal also told him she remained capable of choosing the next move. Leopold lowered his hands and waited for his mate to create the opening.
