My Alpha Boss Gave Me Triplets – Episode 15
Evie surfaced through layers of pain and the clean scent of medicinal herbs. For a moment she expected to see the storage room and Francesca standing over her. Instead, a white ceiling stretched above a narrow infirmary bed, and a steady hand rested against her wrist.
“Don’t try to sit up yet,” Doctor Lara said. Her calm voice held the authority of someone accustomed to being obeyed by wounded wolves. “You lost blood, and your body has been through a serious shock.”
Memory returned all at once—the stolen designs, the stairs, the hunt through the corridors, and the door breaking beneath a wolf’s claws. She remembered promising the triplets that she would protect them, then waking nowhere during the moment someone carried her to safety. Evie’s hands flew to her abdomen. The lack of movement told her nothing at such an early stage, and terror filled the silence before Lara could answer. “My babies. Are they—”
“They are still with you.” Lara covered Evie’s hand with her own. “All three heartbeats are present.” Relief hit so hard that tears escaped before Evie could stop them.
The doctor did not allow that relief to conceal the danger. “If you had arrived any later, I might not have been able to say that. A human pregnancy involving one werewolf fetus is demanding. Three place a strain on your body that cannot be treated casually.” Lara explained that wolf pregnancies developed with needs a human body was never designed to meet, making regular monitoring essential. Courage could help Evie endure treatment, but it could not replace food, rest, medical supervision, or immediate help when the bond signaled distress.
Evie turned her face toward the pillow. She had believed determination and hard work could overcome every disadvantage. The fall had shown how little control she possessed when stronger wolves decided she did not deserve protection.
“How did I get here?” she asked.
“Alpha Leopold found you and carried you in.” Lara’s answer brought back the faint impression of warmth surrounding her while consciousness slipped away. “He has been outside since treatment began. Max has tried twice to make him change out of his bloodstained clothes.”
Evie’s relief tangled with fear. If Leopold had carried her, he might have seen enough to understand the pregnancy. Blood had soaked through her clothes, and no explanation could make the incident look ordinary. He might even have sensed the triplets through the strange connection she still did not comprehend. She remembered how he had appeared whenever she was hurt and wondered how many of her private sensations had already crossed into his body.
Lara studied her expression. “You have not told him.” It was not a question. “Evie, those children carry the Alpha’s blood. Their development, your medical care, and the danger surrounding you all involve him.”
“You don’t know what he thinks of humans.” Evie remembered the contempt in Leopold’s voice when he called her greedy. The triplets were not only babies; they were rare heirs to the most powerful pack in the region, and that gave Leopold motives far beyond affection. “If he believes I’m using them to get something from him, he could take them away—or decide he never wanted them.” She could survive his rejection, but she could not risk a decision that erased her children before they had a chance to live.
“Fear does not make secrecy safe.” Lara adjusted the blanket over her. “Your body is already vulnerable, and someone tried to prevent you from reaching help. The Alpha must know about the pregnancy if you expect him to protect you properly.”
Evie wanted to explain that Leopold’s protection often came with demands and judgments she could not predict. Yet the memory of him finding her in time weakened every argument. Whatever else he was, he had followed her pain when no one else came.
The infirmary doors opened, and Leopold entered before she could answer. His suit bore dark stains, his hair had fallen out of its usual order, and exhaustion sharpened the angles of his face. He stopped when he saw her awake.
For several breaths, neither spoke. Evie had never seen him uncertain, but now his hands remained at his sides as if he did not trust himself to touch her. She remembered the cold orders he usually delivered and contrasted them with the man who had apparently waited outside while her life hung in the balance. Through the bond, relief moved between them, quiet but unmistakable. It was the gentlest thing they had shared since their first night, and it frightened her because it made honesty feel almost possible.
“Francesca and the others are in custody,” he said. “They will not come near you again.” The promise was absolute. “You are not returning to that apartment alone, and you are not going back to the design department until Lara clears you.”
Evie bristled at the decision being made for her. “You can’t rearrange my life because you feel guilty.”
“This is not guilt.” Leopold looked toward her abdomen before meeting her eyes again. “You are moving into my home, where pack security can protect you.” He framed the order as a practical solution, refusing to name the mate bond or the fear that had nearly broken his control.
Lara gave Evie a warning look that repeated everything they had discussed. Evie knew the truth could not remain hidden forever, yet Leopold’s gaze carried questions she was not ready to answer. As he stepped closer to the bed, one question finally rose above all the others. “Evie,” he said, “are you pregnant?”
