I’m In Love With My Brother’s Best Friend?! – Episode 35

Cole dressed in silence while Kaitlyn tried to reassure him. They had chosen each other, and nothing about the night resembled exploitation. Ryan’s assumptions did not define the truth.

Yet Cole could not dismiss the deception. Discovery had come within seconds. The fear he described during their game now felt immediate.

He wondered whether he needed to end the relationship before Ryan found out. The thought hurt Kaitlyn, but Cole’s face revealed that it hurt him too.

Ryan called from the living room, urging them to hurry for lunch. Normal friendship awaited on the other side of the door, unaware it had already changed.

The three sat together while Ryan described London. He called studying abroad the greatest experience of his life and filled the conversation with stories.

Kaitlyn smiled at the proper moments. Beneath the table, her knee brushed Cole’s. Both withdrew as if the contact could expose them.

Ryan asked whether Cole had taken care of his little sister. Cole answered that he had kept a very close eye on her. The double meaning nearly choked Kaitlyn.

The friends discussed football. Cole confirmed he had finished playing and wanted to focus on his final year of law school. Recently, concentration had become difficult.

Ryan asked why. Cole’s gaze drifted toward Kaitlyn before he found a safer answer. The secret pressed against every casual question.

Before he could speak, Sammy approached the table and greeted Kaitlyn. She asked why Kaitlyn had disappeared from the bar and immediately noticed whom she had gone home with.

Kaitlyn rushed to explain that she lived with Cole and that he merely ensured she returned safely. Sammy’s knowing look threatened the entire cover story.

Then Sammy mentioned Mikey and began asking why Kaitlyn had not hooked up with him. Kaitlyn interrupted by introducing her friend to Ryan.

Sammy turned her attention toward Kaitlyn’s brother. She openly admired him and remarked that attractiveness clearly ran in the family. Ryan was flattered.

Kaitlyn urged Sammy to go study before she revealed anything else. Her friend left reluctantly, casting one final curious look at Cole.

Ryan admitted Sammy was cute. Kaitlyn encouraged him to pursue her, partly to redirect his attention from the tension at the table.

Ryan refused. Sammy was too young. Kaitlyn pointed out that they were the same age and both adults.

He argued that dating someone so young would feel like taking advantage. Then he asked Cole to agree. The question landed like a trap.

Cole forced a neutral response while Kaitlyn stiffened. Ryan had unknowingly condemned the relationship hidden inches away.

Her brother changed the subject and asked whether Cole was seeing anyone. For a heartbeat, truth stood within reach.

Cole denied it. Ryan immediately worried he had returned to Amber. As Cole rejected that possibility, Kaitlyn understood their first morning as lovers had already become another public denial.
