Falling for My Ex’s Mafia Dad — Episode 82

Lorenzo’s ventilator had been disconnected under a false emergency order signed with Ivan’s cloned credentials. Security footage showed him leaving in a wheelchair before standing inside the elevator without assistance.

The poisoning, coma, and weakness had been exaggerated to reduce guard attention. Lorenzo spent days listening while enemies revealed plans around an unconscious man.

His first act after escape was freezing the remaining Alden trust accounts through an offshore emergency clause. Salaries, clinic construction payments, and witness protection funds stopped at once.

Fay refused to use Lippert money as a replacement. Depending on Kent’s empire would revive the argument that her independence was decorative.

She convened the trust board and disclosed the crisis. Community banks offered bridge financing after donors saw the clinic survive two Mafia families’ interference.

Workers agreed to continue essential construction while executives deferred compensation. Power redistributed itself through cooperation exactly as Fay had promised the council.

Lorenzo sent a video from an unknown location. He stood before the Alden crest, healthy enough to threaten every captain who renounced him.

He called Fay an ungrateful child corrupted by Kent and announced that her unborn baby would become the lawful heir after she was declared incapable.

Mara filed new kidnapping and conspiracy warrants. The video’s metadata had been scrubbed, but a church bell in the background matched the monastery where Victoria was held.

State teams searched the property again. Beneath the chapel, they found a communications bunker containing current photographs of Fay, Kent, Daniel, Colin, and the clinic board.

One board member appeared in private meetings with Lorenzo. The treasurer who arranged bridge financing had been reporting every trust decision.

Fay confronted him through counsel. He admitted Lorenzo threatened his family but refused protective custody. Fear still made ordinary people extensions of a don’s reach.

Daniel traced the treasurer’s last payment to a marina. Lorenzo had chartered a vessel under Victoria’s old alias, intending to leave territorial waters before the warrants spread.

Coast patrol intercepted the boat, but it carried only prerecorded messages and blood belonging to Lorenzo. He had staged another route.

Ivan recognized the trick as Grant’s method: create a visible escape while moving through the institution responding to it. Lorenzo might be inside law enforcement transport.

The captured warden confirmed a prisoner van had left the hospital during the false emergency. Its destination log listed the courthouse holding cells.

Officers found the van abandoned beneath the courthouse. A uniform and wheelchair remained inside beside a second tunnel entrance.

The tunnel led toward the public garage used by judges and prosecutors. Lorenzo had changed identities again within the most secure legal building in the city.

Fay received a call from Kent’s monitoring officer. Someone had entered the trust residence using a judge’s credentials and disabled the exterior cameras.

Kent was alone inside—and Lorenzo’s voice came over the open line, telling him the final negotiation would be father to father.
