Falling for My Ex’s Mafia Dad — Episode 73

Fay sealed Lorenzo’s note in an evidence bag. Anger urged an immediate answer, but responding would confirm the pregnancy before she controlled disclosure. She allowed silence to become strategy.

Victoria recognized the cradle charm. Lorenzo had given it to her after Fay’s birth, calling the baby an heir rather than a daughter. She had hidden it before fleeing.

Only three people knew where: Victoria, Lorenzo, and a midwife named Sofia Bell. If Lorenzo now possessed it, Sofia might have helped him—or become another captive.

Daniel traced Sofia to a coastal nursing home under an Alden subsidy. Fay visited with Mara and Victoria while independent security watched the route.

Sofia was eighty-two and initially denied recognizing them. When Victoria used an old code phrase, fear gave way to tears. Sofia had believed both mother and daughter dead.

She admitted helping Victoria fake the overseas car accident. Lorenzo discovered the deception years later and forced Sofia to surrender the charm as proof of her role.

Sofia also preserved birth records Lorenzo never found. They showed Victoria changed Fay’s legal parentage before disappearing, granting David full guardianship and excluding Lorenzo from any claim.

The documents could defeat Lorenzo’s competency and inheritance petitions. More importantly, they proved Victoria intended Fay’s freedom long before captivity silenced her.

Sofia warned that Lorenzo kept a private registry of children connected to rival families. He treated births as future contracts. Fay’s unborn child would already have a place.

Back at the clinic, Ivan located *Succession Pressure*. The plan proposed using pregnancy to force Fay into protective custody, then charging Kent with coercion while Lorenzo sought guardianship of the baby.

The document carried Ivan’s digital approval. He denied seeing the final version, but his credentials had authorized the operation. Whether stolen or carelessly delegated, his identity remained part of the weapon.

Fay said regret could not be the final stage of accountability. Ivan needed to identify everyone with access to his signature token. He produced a list including Grant, two supervisors, and Lorenzo’s attorney.

One supervisor remained active inside Kent’s detention center. Mara sought emergency removal, but the prison refused without proof of immediate misconduct.

Fay decided Kent had to know the pregnancy before an enemy used it. Mara arranged a privileged room separated by glass but shielded from ordinary recording.

Kent entered expecting legal strategy. Fay placed the ultrasound appointment card against the glass and told him he was going to be a father.

Joy transformed him before fear returned. He asked whether she was healthy, whether the pregnancy was wanted, and whether she felt safe. He did not ask first about an heir.

Fay answered yes to the first two and honestly said she did not know about the third. Lorenzo’s threat and Grant’s files made safety an active project rather than a condition.

Kent pressed his forehead to the glass. He apologized that his world had reached the child before he could hold either of them. Fay refused inherited guilt; what mattered was what they built next.

A guard entered early and ended the visit. As Kent was taken away, the active supervisor watched Fay’s hand resting over her abdomen.

That night, Kent’s meal tested positive for a drug capable of causing cardiac arrest—and the serving log bore Ivan’s authorization code.
