Falling for My Ex’s Mafia Dad — Episode 64
Fay refused the instruction to come alone. Grant’s demand exploited the belief that courage required isolation. She contacted a state investigator Mara trusted and shared the live evidence archive before planning any rescue.
Kent agreed to remain outside the terminal perimeter with his men. Entering would allow Grant to label the rescue a Mafia assault on federal officers. Daniel joined the state team as the person most familiar with the abandoned rail tunnels.
Fay carried no weapon. She wore a body camera streaming to three independent servers and entered through the main concourse, where broken clocks hung above rows of dust-covered benches.
Ivan waited beneath the departure board. He appeared alone, but a bruise along his jaw and blood on one cuff suggested the situation had already turned violent.
He said Mara remained alive in the signal room. Grant wanted the memory wafer and every copy of Victoria’s recording. Fay answered that no single person controlled the evidence anymore.
Ivan almost smiled. Decentralization made the hostage useless, which meant Grant would kill Mara unless offered another form of leverage. Ivan proposed himself.
He would confess publicly to fabricating the entire operation, allowing Grant to discredit the evidence and preserve his task force. In exchange, Mara and Fay would leave. The plan would send Ivan to prison and protect the man who manipulated him.
Fay refused. Sacrifice was not redemption if it preserved the abusive system. She needed Ivan alive and testifying, even if his testimony exposed crimes he committed against Daniel and Colin.
Grant’s voice sounded through the terminal. He congratulated Fay for turning therapy language into tactical resistance. Then he revealed that pressure sensors had detected the state team outside.
Mara screamed from the upper level. Fay and Ivan ran toward the signal stairs as gunfire erupted in a service corridor. Grant’s remaining loyalists engaged the state investigators.
Daniel entered through an old luggage tunnel and reached Mara first. He cut her restraints while Ivan covered the stairwell. Fay found Grant in the control room feeding the Victoria cassette into a shredder.
She struck the emergency stop. Grant caught her wrist and said Victoria had died because she believed evidence could defeat men willing to kill. Fay answered that evidence only needed survivors brave enough to preserve it.
Grant dragged her toward the platform. Ivan appeared with his gun raised but could not fire without risking Fay. Grant ordered him to remember who had given purpose to his father’s death.
Ivan lowered the weapon. For one terrible second, Fay believed conditioning had won. Then he kicked a control lever, switching the rails beneath an approaching maintenance engine.
The sudden noise distracted Grant. Fay broke his grip, and Ivan tackled him away from the platform edge. State officers reached them before either man could reach the fallen gun.
Grant was arrested alive. Mara secured the damaged cassette, while cloud backups preserved the audio. The victory felt incomplete because Lorenzo had already escaped with the Lippert ledger.
Ivan surrendered his weapon and badge. He admitted his affidavit against Kent contained coerced and false statements, but warned that the ledger included enough real payments to support arrest without his testimony.
Kent entered only after state officers cleared the scene. He and Ivan faced each other across the platform, bound by Ilya’s death and Fay’s refusal to let either choose violence.
Kent said he owed Ivan the truth. Ivan answered that truth would not return his father or erase years spent serving Grant. Still, he agreed to listen when lawyers could record every word.
Before they left, Grant laughed from the police car. The arrest warrant for Kent had already been signed—and Lorenzo was delivering the ledger personally to the federal courthouse.
