Found A Homeless Billionaire Husband for Christmas – Episode 14

Carl tried to book another flight and found no escape from the consequences at the airport. He could not secure a reservation anywhere. Each attempt returned him to the same problem with less patience than before.

“We’ve been banned from all the airlines.” He announced it in disbelief. The status he had invoked so forcefully at the counter had failed to get him even the ordinary travel he needed.

His companion was thinking about the dinner her mother had arranged. They were expected, and failing to arrive would make her furious. Their removal from the airport had not removed any of those obligations.

“It’s fine,” Carl insisted. The reassurance came quickly, before he had done anything to make the situation better. He still seemed to expect confidence to carry some authority.

They could drive. He offered the alternative as a manageable solution, the next obvious step now that flying was out of reach. It was the only answer he appeared to have.

“What?” She was not prepared to accept it so easily. A thirty-hour journey was not something she intended to embrace because he had exhausted their other choices.

He tried to minimize it. Only thirty hours. Saying the number casually did nothing to shorten the distance or soften her reaction.

“I’m not driving thirty hours.” The argument continued with neither the dinner nor their destination any closer. Carl had left the counter demanding consequences for someone else and found his own plans collapsing instead.

In Texas, Victoria’s arrival was greeted with affection. Her mother welcomed her baby girl home, and the warmth of it reached her before she had time to rehearse anything she might need to explain.

They had missed her. Victoria returned the greeting and let herself be home for a moment. After everything that had happened, the familiar welcome was something she did not have to question.

Then her mother’s attention shifted to Simon. This must be her son-in-law. The introduction Victoria had postponed on the phone was finally happening in person.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, ma’am. I’m Simon Jones.” He was polite and composed beside her. Victoria watched as the man who had offered to help at her lowest moment gave his name to her family.

Her mother welcomed Simon into the family. The words were easy and generous. They gave their marriage a substance the paperwork alone had not quite managed to provide.

Victoria had feared coming back with a broken engagement and a canceled wedding. Instead, her mother was greeting a groom. For now, the terrible conversation she had dreaded remained unnecessary.

Elsewhere, a news report brought the same name into a very different setting. Simon Jones, CEO of the Jones Group, had been reported missing six months earlier. The broadcast described a car accident.

Sources now said he had been found. He would soon return to the Jones Group. The missing executive was becoming a current story again, his name no longer confined to old reports.

A woman was told that Victoria had brought her husband home. The announcement belonged to ordinary family news, yet the name beside it suggested something extraordinary. Two pieces of information had come close enough to invite a connection.

“The billionaire Simon Jones?” The question gave the familiar name an entirely different weight. Victoria was home with her new husband, while beyond their welcome, the world was beginning to hear that Simon Jones had returned.
