The Virgin’s Bucket List – Episode 43

Elena listened to Catherine’s warning in silence. She had preserved the recording for years without accepting that it condemned her own choices. Lindsay stopped the file before emotion made the room unbearable.

The professor apologized. After Grant challenged Victor’s affidavit, she became convinced only public pressure could protect the evidence. She treated Lindsay and Alyssa as pieces in a strategy because she feared asking would give them the right to refuse.

Lindsay understood the fear but not the entitlement. Catherine chose her because powerful people underestimated her, not because every ally could decide her future in secret. Elena’s cause did not excuse repeating Grant’s methods.

Alyssa surprised Lindsay by supporting her. She told Elena that manipulating people “for their own good” still trained them to doubt their choices. Alyssa knew because she had done it openly for years.

Elena offered to withdraw as their mentor and report the conflict to program administration. Lindsay insisted on transparency but did not demand her removal. Accountability should allow repair when safety permitted it.

The original archive contained financial records from Grant’s university donations. Several payments funded student-data software through a company called Northstar Analytics. The same company created the remote-management profile found on Lindsay’s phone.

Grant’s influence had reached beyond one scholarship packet. Northstar collected browsing histories, location data, and draft documents from students who opened university attachments. Elena suspected the system identified anyone investigating donors.

The live photograph of Wayne might have come from location information in Lindsay’s messages. If Northstar still accessed her accounts, every conversation placed others at risk. Campus technicians began a complete device audit.

Wayne felt responsible for not noticing the person who photographed him. Lindsay reminded him that surveillance succeeded by making victims blame themselves. She also admitted she was struggling to focus on the program while worrying about everyone at home.

Their video call ended awkwardly when Wayne had to return to training. Distance magnified every unfinished sentence. Lindsay resisted the urge to interpret exhaustion as fading love.

Alyssa watched from across the room and recognized the insecurity. She could have used it once. Instead, she told Lindsay that Wayne had looked terrified for her, not bored with her.

Lindsay thanked her without offering friendship. Alyssa replied that basic honesty did not require a reward. The exchange marked a small change neither wanted to name.

Program administrators placed Elena on leave while reviewing her undisclosed connection to Catherine. Students were told only that a faculty matter had arisen. Rumors filled the absence of information.

Lindsay refused to publish Elena’s archive until every source consented. Catherine’s recording belonged to the family, and the data records affected thousands of students. Speed could create another violation in the name of exposure.

Alyssa examined the Northstar contracts and found her own application identification number. The program had tracked her disciplinary history, social posts, and private essay revisions before admitting her.

Someone had used those records to craft Elena’s anonymous messages so precisely that Alyssa believed the sender understood her personally. Elena had begun the contact, but Northstar had continued shaping it.

Jeremy traced Northstar’s administrative login to a current university employee. The account had accessed both girls’ dorm assignment and Wayne’s training schedule that morning.

The employee name on the account was Professor Elena Ward, even though security footage showed Elena had been inside the interview room when the threatening photograph was taken.
