I’m In Love With My Brother’s Best Friend?! – Episode 50

The morning after the party, Ryan found Cole making breakfast as he had countless times before London. Familiar routine softened the memory of their fight.

Cole placed coffee in front of him without asking. Ryan accepted it, recognizing that friendship survived through ordinary gestures before grand declarations.

He asked how long Cole had loved Kaitlyn. Cole admitted he did not know when protection became something deeper.

The first adult realization came when she entered the apartment wearing his shirt. The feeling itself had probably existed in quieter forms long before.

Ryan grimaced at the shirt reference and ordered him never to elaborate. Cole laughed, relieved that disgust had become exasperation rather than rejection.

Kaitlyn joined them and noticed the shift immediately. Her brother still watched Cole carefully, but hostility no longer controlled the room.

Ryan established boundaries. Cole would respect Kaitlyn’s studies, never exploit his academic position, and understand that hurting her meant answering to the entire family.

Kaitlyn objected to rules negotiated over her head. She added her own: Ryan would not threaten every man in her life or treat her choices as family property.

Both men agreed. The balance was imperfect but honest.

Cole told Ryan that Professor Calloway already knew about the relationship and had installed academic safeguards. There was no hidden favoritism.

Ryan was surprised that the university had learned before he did. The reminder renewed some hurt, but Cole explained the disclosure happened during Maddy’s blackmail.

Kaitlyn described the stolen paper and false confession. Ryan’s anger shifted toward Maddy, confirming that his protective instincts had not disappeared.

He praised Kaitlyn for earning the internship on merit. Her academic success deserved to stand apart from the men surrounding her.

The three discussed Cole’s job in their hometown. A future close to the Sinclair family no longer required him to choose between Ryan and Kaitlyn.

Cole acknowledged that the transition would still be complicated. Kaitlyn had years of college ahead while his professional life began.

She refused to let distance become another decision he made alone. They would plan together, just as they promised Professor Calloway.

Ryan watched them debate and recognized partnership rather than infatuation. Cole challenged Kaitlyn without diminishing her; she refused to let him hide.

Acceptance settled more deeply. Ryan told Cole that if anyone was going to love his sister, he preferred someone whose character he already knew.

Cole thanked him. The words could not contain what it meant to retain both his best friend and the woman he loved.

Ryan raised his coffee in warning. Approval could be withdrawn if Cole ever sneaked into Kaitlyn’s room again. From the hallway, Kaitlyn informed them that the rule applied equally to her sneaking into his.
