I’m In Love With My Brother’s Best Friend?! – Episode 47
Ryan repeated the truth slowly. His best friend and little sister loved each other. Anger remained, but certainty had fractured.
Kaitlyn apologized that he discovered the relationship this way. They had intended to tell him once they found the courage and the right moment.
Ryan asked whether Cole took care of her. The question surprised them both. Beneath the fury, he still wanted his sister safe.
Kaitlyn answered that Cole always protected her, even when she insisted she did not need protection. He had rescued her from Brent, defended her work, and honored every boundary.
More importantly, he had always been there. The pattern began long before romance—with a lonely girl on a backyard swing and a boy who told her she was beautiful.
Cole told Ryan he truly loved her. Until now, the support of Ryan and the Sinclair family had been the most important thing in his life.
Ryan asked what mattered most now. The answer would reveal whether Cole viewed Kaitlyn as one relationship competing against another.
Cole said it was Kaitlyn. In truth, it had always been Kaitlyn, even before he understood the form his care would take.
The admission hurt Ryan, yet it also proved the relationship was not casual. Cole was risking the family he valued most because lying about Kaitlyn had become impossible.
Kaitlyn asked Ryan to say something. Silence stretched while the party resumed uncertainly beyond the bathroom.
Ryan studied Cole’s bruised face and his sister’s determined expression. Neither looked ashamed now that the truth was exposed.
He remembered every time Cole had protected Kaitlyn before romance could have existed. Trust had been violated, but the man before him was not a stranger.
Ryan also recognized his own mistake. He had treated Kaitlyn’s adulthood as theoretical, accepting it only when her decisions matched his preferences.
Forgiveness did not arrive all at once. Anger would require time, and neither could expect the friendship to reset immediately.
Still, Ryan could not order two adults out of love. He exhaled and warned them that their parents would demand an explanation at Christmas.
Cole blinked. The reference to Christmas implied he remained invited. Hope appeared cautiously.
Ryan said Cole had always been part of the family. If he had not been before, loving Kaitlyn certainly made the connection permanent.
Cole thanked him with emotion he could not hide. Acceptance from Ryan healed the oldest fear he carried.
Ryan warned him not to become too comfortable. If he ever caught Cole sneaking into Kaitlyn’s room, another punch would follow.
Kaitlyn accepted the condition before Cole could negotiate. The three shared an uneasy laugh—the first sound of a family rearranging itself rather than breaking apart.
