I Have Five Kick-Ass Brothers – Episode 66

The recording opened with Evelyn seated in the women’s shelter, thinner than Eli remembered. She addressed Raina by the name Mrs. Lincoln had chosen before the switch.

Evelyn explained that she had distrusted the family company and left home after discovering a secret clause in its succession charter.

The clause required every Lincoln son to approve a daughter’s voting rights. One dissenting brother could legally silence Raina despite the trust created to protect her.

Noah immediately ordered the charter produced. The clause remained buried in an appendix no board review had removed.

Raina looked at her brothers. None hesitated, but she hated that her equality depended on five men proving they loved her.

Mathew said signing consent would solve her immediate problem, not the injustice. He wanted the clause destroyed for every woman after her.

The five brothers called a special shareholder meeting to replace the appendix. Opponents argued that changing it would weaken a century of family control.

Raina answered that a company unable to survive equal rights deserved no protection from its own weakness.

Her observer term did not grant her a vote, so she could only present evidence and leave the decision to others.

Theo sat in the public gallery, offering no corporate leverage. This victory had to belong to Raina’s argument and the Lincoln shareholders’ choice.

Noah spoke first, surrendering the special authority assigned to the eldest son. Henry, Joshua, Luke, and Mathew followed.

Several investors changed their votes after realizing the brothers would rather dilute their own power than preserve discrimination.

The amendment passed by a narrow margin. The “sons’ consent” clause disappeared from the charter before Raina accepted a single share.

She then accepted the voting interest as herself, not as Elias. Her name entered the ledger without an alias for the first time.

Evelyn’s recording continued after a long silence. She told the brothers that protecting Raina must never become another way of controlling her.

Each man heard a private correction in those words. Their fierce loyalty had saved Raina, but it had sometimes crowded the space where her own judgment belonged.

Raina did not ask them to become less loving. She asked them to trust that standing beside her could be as powerful as standing in front.

The brothers agreed, though Henry requested an exception for terrible karaoke and Joshua requested one for actual gunfire.

Laughter broke the solemnity. Eli smiled from the back of the room, hearing his mother guide a family she had never rejoined.

The last seconds of the recording held no speech—only a date and location for a safe-deposit box that had been opened that morning.
