I Have Five Kick-Ass Brothers – Episode 64
The nursery video was the clearest record of the switch they had ever seen. Its time stamp matched Raina’s birth, but the nurse’s face remained outside the frame.
Grace claimed she had never known a camera survived. Victor had spent years hunting the tape because it could identify the person who first ordered him to alter the records.
Raina refused to buy stolen evidence through a secret auction. Paying would fund the same market that had turned Eli’s childhood into merchandise.
Joshua obtained a warrant while Luke entered the auction as a monitored bidder. Theo’s company verified the server without accessing unrelated buyers.
The seller demanded proof that the bidder belonged to the Lincoln family. Raina recorded a short message confirming her identity but revealing nothing private.
A reply arrived in Evelyn Mercer’s voice. Eli recognized his mother immediately, though the recording had been made years before her death.
Evelyn said she had taken the tape from the hospital after realizing Grace was destroying files. She intended to return it when Raina was found.
Instead, a shelter administrator stored her belongings after she died. The archive was later stolen and divided among identity brokers.
Eli’s grief changed shape. His mother had not abandoned the truth; she had tried to preserve it while protecting him from the Lincoln conflict.
The seller instructed Raina to come alone to the closed shelter. She agreed publicly, while Joshua prepared surveillance that respected the warrant’s limits.
Theo did not order her to stay behind. He helped her review exits and promised to remain where she asked, close enough to respond but not close enough to ruin the exchange.
Inside the shelter, Raina found Mara’s employer waiting beside a projector. He was not a hidden relative or mastermind, only the former records contractor Owen had once paid.
He believed information carried no morality, only price. Raina told him every file represented a life forced to pay for someone else’s crime.
He offered the video in exchange for immunity. Joshua entered and explained that victims could not grant immunity, especially before evidence was surrendered.
The contractor reached for a drive shredder. Eli, watching the security feed, recognized the machine’s remote power switch and told Luke how to disable it.
The drives survived. Police arrested the contractor and recovered Evelyn’s complete archive.
The restored video showed Grace exchanging identification bands, but another woman waited at the exit and handed her an envelope.
Mrs. Smith identified the woman as her late mother, who had once controlled the Smith household and considered bloodlines more valuable than children.
The original architect of the switch was dead. The revelation offered no confrontation, only the harder truth that living people had continued her cruelty by choice.
Then the final frames showed Evelyn rescuing a second envelope from the trash—an envelope addressed to Coco’s biological father.
