I Have Five Kick-Ass Brothers – Episode 53
Grace’s final claim followed Theo and Raina back to the Jones estate. Mr. Jones ordered the family archives opened and admitted Theo’s late father had negotiated several alliance agreements during a financial crisis. None, to his knowledge, included a binding marriage promise.
The offshore copy named the Moore family and promised the Jones heir would marry their eldest eligible daughter in exchange for emergency capital. Asher Moore’s older sister, Renee Moore, met the description.
Raina did not mistake an old contract for Theo’s decision. Her concern was whether the agreement carried financial penalties capable of destabilizing Jones Group. Love could reject a bargain while still facing its legal consequences.
Theo’s attorneys found no original in the company files. The signature resembled his father’s, but Grace’s archive contained too many expertly forged documents for resemblance to matter.
Asher confirmed his family once invested in Jones Group but had never discussed a marriage alliance with him. His sister Renee lived overseas and had built an independent career away from the Moore business.
When contacted, Renee reacted with disbelief. She remembered attending childhood dinners with Theo but had never been promised to him. She agreed to provide family records and return to Brookfield if testimony became necessary.
Coco heard about the contract through her attorney and recognized another connection. She had threatened that losing Theo would damage a partnership between the Smiths and Moores because Asher once mentioned an old Jones obligation.
At the time, Coco treated the rumor as leverage without understanding it. Her statement at the food stand had unintentionally revealed a secret Grace later used to make the forgery believable.
Theo refused to blame Coco for Grace exploiting a careless threat. He focused on the contract’s paper, ink, and transaction records. The supposed investment date matched a genuine transfer from Moore Holdings.
Mr. Moore met the families at Jones Group and explained the money. It was repayment of a separate property loan, not capital exchanged for marriage. The contract had attached a false motive to a real payment.
Forensic analysis found the signature transferred from that property agreement. Grace had assembled another legal fiction from authentic pieces, the same technique used in the forged marriage certificates.
Renee Moore arrived before the analysis concluded. She greeted Theo as an old acquaintance and Raina without rivalry, immediately surrendering the childhood correspondence Grace might have copied.
Among the letters was a joking note from Theo’s father calling Renee his son’s “future partner in trouble.” Grace had interpreted playful language as evidence of intent and built the contract around it.
Raina appreciated Renee’s directness. Both women refused the familiar script that demanded competition over a man. Theo looked relieved until they began comparing stories about his stubborn childhood.
The forged contract was formally rejected by both families. Mr. Moore released the original loan records, eliminating any credible financial claim. One more inherited obligation disappeared under transparent evidence.
Grace then provided the key to her offshore archive, but only half the files decrypted. The remaining section required a biometric sample from the hospital administrator who succeeded her after the switch.
That administrator was Jeffrey Smith’s late mother, Raina’s adoptive grandmother. She had died believing Raina was her biological granddaughter and left no known biometric records.
Mrs. Smith remembered a medical-research donation containing preserved blood samples from older family members. The hospital might still hold the grandmother’s specimen under ethics restrictions.
Access would require court approval and proof that the encrypted files contained evidence of ongoing crimes. Prosecutors prepared the request while Grace insisted the effort would expose a final betrayal inside the Smith family.
Before the hearing, the research hospital reported the sample missing. Someone had entered the laboratory with credentials belonging to Jeffrey Smith.
