Twilight Romance: Flash Marriage to Mature Tycoon – Episode 55
The estate clause transformed Summer’s threats from emotional warfare into a possible motive for violence. Jocelyn would inherit temporary voting control if Ray died, but Summer could challenge her marriage and the divorce simultaneously. Chaos around succession might reopen every claim Summer had lost.
Ray’s attorneys recommended changing the plan immediately. Jocelyn insisted the revision protect Violet and the company without making her security dependent on widowhood. No document should reward anyone for imagining Ray’s death.
They created an independent succession trust managed by professional fiduciaries, with Violet as beneficiary and employee protections built into its terms. Jocelyn declined voting control but retained ordinary spousal rights. The arrangement removed Summer’s leverage without erasing the marriage.
Ray asked whether refusing corporate control meant Jocelyn still feared belonging in his world. She said she belonged beside him, not automatically at the head of a company she had never trained to run. Knowing one’s limits was not shame.
The board approved the new plan. Its public filing revealed enough to show that no spouse could seize Astor Group during a crisis. Summer’s copy of the old estate documents became useless.
Hours later, police received a call from Summer. She offered to surrender if Ray met her alone at the hotel where she once staged their reconciliation photographs. She threatened to disappear permanently if anyone else entered the suite.
Ray refused the condition. Jocelyn supported him, recognizing it as another attempt to isolate and control. Police negotiators continued the call while tracing her location.
Summer claimed she possessed evidence that would destroy Violet’s faith in her father. She said Ray had known where she lived after the divorce and deliberately prevented contact. The accusation attacked a wound no corporate filing could close.
Ray admitted he had received occasional addresses through investigators. He had not contacted Summer because she repeatedly demanded money before agreeing to see Violet. He kept those demands from his daughter to protect her.
Violet overheard enough to insist on seeing the records herself. Ray hesitated, then gave her the complete file rather than another protective summary. She read messages in which Summer priced birthdays, school visits, and photographs.
The cruelty devastated her, but the truth also ended years of wondering whether Ray simply failed to find her mother. Jocelyn stayed nearby without interpreting the evidence for her.
Violet recorded a message for Summer. She said Ray had made mistakes by hiding painful truths, but Summer had chosen absence repeatedly. No secret file could turn abandonment into love.
Police played the message during negotiations. Summer fell silent, then accused Jocelyn of scripting it. Violet answered live and told her mother that blaming Jocelyn for every boundary was another refusal to listen.
The trace located Summer not at the hotel but inside an unused Astor storage facility. She had routed the call through the suite to draw security away. Police surrounded the facility while Ray kept her talking.
Summer demanded a vehicle and access to frozen funds. Negotiators refused. Her voice shifted between threats, blame, and pleading as every strategy failed to restore control.
Jocelyn asked to speak, with police approval. She told Summer that surrender would not restore her marriage or erase charges, but it could stop the cycle before someone was physically harmed.
Summer laughed bitterly and asked why Jocelyn cared. Jocelyn replied that compassion did not require trust, and accountability did not require wishing another person dead.
After a long silence, the storage door opened. Summer stepped out with empty hands. Police arrested her without violence.
Violet watched the live security feed and began to cry. Relief, grief, and finality arrived together. Ray held his daughter while Jocelyn held both of them.
As officers searched the facility, they found boxes of surveillance files on the entire family. One folder carried Jocelyn’s name and a recent photograph of the foundation center marked with the words: Final leverage—use before the wedding.
