Reborn to Love Mr. Right – Episode 68
Hayden regained consciousness outside the chamber with tears already on his face. He remembered every year with Iteration Zero: guardianship, separation, reconciliation, their wedding, and the attack that ended the timeline.
The memories remained chronological and free of embedded commands. Doctors called them stable integration rather than neural contamination. Hayden called them grief for a life that belonged to him and no longer existed.
Arianna did not ask for immediate details. She sat nearby while he decided what to share. Remembering another marriage did not make present intimacy automatic.
He explained that Iteration Zero died after Victor fired into the chamber during their wedding-day struggle. Hayden closed the transmission at her request, but her blood reached the optical controls before the system shut down.
Her dying neural pattern became the echo that later accused him. It preserved the anger from guardianship more strongly than the reconciliation that followed. Trauma had survived with sharper edges than forgiveness.
Hayden also remembered why the cycle began. Iteration Zero was not the first living Arianna; the name described the earliest complete record retained by the chamber. No evidence proved a timeline before her.
The threat of an endless hidden past weakened. Victor had used numbering to imply superior knowledge, while the system labeled incomplete records according to technical sequence rather than human lives.
Arianna asked whether Hayden now loved the woman he remembered. He answered that love did not vanish because its timeline did. It also did not entitle him to treat the present Arianna as a continuation of his wife.
The honesty hurt and reassured her at once. She would not compete with herself, but neither would she demand he erase grief to prove current devotion.
They agreed to pause romance while Hayden processed the integrated memories. Their bond remained, but neither wanted a crisis to rush them into recreating a marriage they had not chosen now.
Donald worried the pause meant Iteration Zero had succeeded in separating them. Arianna said making a thoughtful choice was not defeat merely because an enemy predicted pain.
The rural chamber remained inert after cancellation. Scientists removed its mechanical parts under court order. No continuity signal appeared on any network or medical monitor.
The complete film record authenticated Hayden’s account. Victor’s wedding-day attack appeared clearly, including the gun in his hand and Iteration Zero’s command to close the transmission.
Prosecutors added attempted murder evidence from the forgotten branch only as an investigative lead. Present-day charges still relied on existing records, but the film guided them to the weapon Victor stored afterward.
Police recovered the gun from a North Road foundation wall. Ballistics linked it to another unsolved shooting committed during Victor’s early operations. The past that could not enter court still led them to evidence that could.
Derek learned the chamber had been canceled and asked whether his memories would disappear. Doctors said the stable fragments he retained were now ordinary memory. He would have to live with them.
Iteration Zero’s storage trust dissolved after the court declared the echo lacked legal identity. Every asset returned to independent Taylor management rather than directly to Arianna.
Arianna supported employee representation before family voting rights resumed. The choice separated her leadership from both Derek’s theft and the echo’s obsession with control.
At sunset, she met Hayden outside the dismantled laboratory. He returned the pendant and said he would keep whatever distance she needed. Arianna placed it in her pocket, not around her neck.
As they left separately, Hayden received a memory that had not appeared in the films. Iteration Zero had hidden a child inside the Taylor estate before the wedding attack.
