Reborn to Love Mr. Right – Episode 67
The copied keys carried no fingerprints and matched the originals at a molecular level. They had not been manufactured with present technology. The chamber accepted them because they came from another timeline.
Security footage showed the key slots empty, then occupied between frames. No person entered the room. The continuity anomaly could move small objects backward just as it once delivered Derek’s photograph.
The chamber began charging despite having no electrical connection. Instruments detected energy building around the mechanical core. Iteration Zero’s final plan no longer required Hayden or Arianna to cooperate.
Technicians estimated activation within twelve hours. Destroying the chamber might release the stored energy unpredictably. Removing the copied keys could trigger the reset sequence immediately.
Arianna’s mother had left an emergency manual in the final core. It described a manual cancellation requiring two conscious participants to turn the keys in opposite directions while rejecting transmission.
Donald argued trained officers should perform it. The manual specified Arianna and Hayden’s biometric patterns because the anomaly had formed around them. Substitutes would be treated as interference.
Arianna refused to enter until Hayden’s doctors confirmed the Guardian pattern was gone. Independent scans found no remaining commands. Hayden still possessed painful memories, but memory itself was not infection.
They entered the chamber wearing medical monitors and tethered safety lines. Federal observers controlled the outer locks. Donald watched through reinforced glass, unable to protect them by taking their place.
Iteration Zero appeared between the key slots in a projection made from reflected light. She insisted cancellation would preserve the imperfect present while sacrificing every future where Donald, Hayden, and Arianna lived safely.
Arianna asked whether any future remained safe once an archive decided for everyone. The echo answered with images of weddings, children, and restored companies. Desire made the projection more dangerous than fear.
Hayden saw a life in which his mother survived. His hand tightened near the key. Arianna did not tell him what to choose; she waited until he looked away from the image himself.
“A life offered through someone else’s obedience isn’t her life,” he said. The projection of his mother dissolved.
Arianna saw Donald aging beside her and a version of herself untouched by paralysis or betrayal. She grieved the impossible peace before rejecting it. Healing could not require replacing everyone who endured the road here.
They turned the copied keys outward together. The chamber resisted, replaying every regret it had collected. Arianna heard Derek’s cruelty, Donald’s death, and Hayden’s confession from the night she died.
Hayden heard Iteration Zero begging for another reset. He acknowledged the woman he failed during guardianship without letting her pain command the present.
The copied keys cracked. Energy surged through the chamber, and both safety lines snapped. Arianna fell against the same console that wounded Iteration Zero.
Hayden caught her before the glass broke. He did not restrain her or reach for the keys alone. He asked whether she still chose cancellation.
“Yes,” Arianna said. Together they completed the turn, and the chamber released its stored light upward through the abandoned house.
The copied keys dissolved into silver dust. Every monitor showed the continuity connection falling toward zero. Iteration Zero’s projection began to fade.
Before disappearing, she whispered, “Then one of you must remember me.” Hayden’s eyes closed as the entire forgotten marriage entered his mind.
