Reborn to Love Mr. Right – Episode 56

Arianna’s mother had recorded the message before the first known reset. Her voice lacked urgency, suggesting she expected Iteration Four to awaken years later under controlled conditions. Victor’s interference had accelerated a safeguard never meant to govern anyone.

The recording explained that the final core stored no personality model. It contained the original continuity research conducted with Hayden’s mother, including the first impossible signal received from the future. Destroying it would erase the only unaltered account.

Donald admitted he knew their wives had worked on disaster-recovery technology, but neither woman told him it involved temporal anomalies. They feared corporate boards would commercialize any method that appeared to predict markets or death.

The first signal arrived before Arianna was born. It contained only a date, her name, and the phrase “She must be allowed to choose.” Her mother built the safeguard to ensure no company, model, or parent could use the signal to control her life.

Victor discovered the project and reversed its purpose. He turned protection into surveillance, collected emotional data, and tried to reproduce the regret that opened the connection. Iteration Four inherited both women’s safeguard and his corrupt training.

The final core remained inside the server farm, physically separate from the deleted model. Police secured it while independent scientists examined the casing. Opening it required the two master keys belonging to Taylor and Scott.

Hayden held his mother’s original key; Arianna held the second key recovered from the voice recorder. Their mothers had designed access so neither family could act alone. Cooperation, not marriage or ownership, had always been the intended bond.

They agreed to open the core with Donald, Hayden’s father, federal observers, and ethics specialists present. No private promise would substitute for oversight again.

Inside waited a single optical drive and handwritten research notebooks. The drive contained a video of both mothers addressing their future children. Hayden’s mother began by apologizing for leaving them a burden disguised as protection.

Arianna’s mother said the continuity signal did not select a special person. It responded to concentrated regret linked across people who loved, harmed, and remembered one another. Arianna returned because her death connected Donald, Hayden, Ivy, Derek, and Victor in one unresolved chain.

Derek’s memories followed because his choices formed part of that chain, not because he deserved another chance. Ivy’s future packets strengthened the connection. Hayden’s grief provided the stable emotional reference the archive used to find Arianna across timelines.

Arianna looked at Hayden, overwhelmed by the thought that his love had become a coordinate. He refused the romantic simplification. His grief opened a path, but her choice to change had determined what traveled through it.

The notebooks warned that repeated resets destabilized memory and could create composite identities like Iteration Four. Another full reset might erase the current timeline completely. Preserving choice therefore required ending the cycle rather than perfecting it.

Donald asked how the cycle could be ended. The final page named three conditions: destroy coercive models, resolve the originating betrayal through present justice, and allow Arianna to face loss without choosing death as escape.

The first condition had been met when the personality echo was deleted. The second depended on the criminal cases against Derek and Victor. The third could not be engineered without becoming another form of control.

Arianna understood that no machine could guarantee she would never regret again. Ending the cycle meant accepting that pain might occur without demanding reality restart around it.

The core contained one remaining future packet, sealed until the day after graduation. Opening it might reveal the next loss and undermine the third condition. Leaving it closed meant choosing uncertainty deliberately.

Hayden told Arianna the choice belonged to her, then corrected himself. The data involved all of them, so the decision required everyone affected. They voted after reviewing the risks.

Every person, including Arianna, chose to leave the packet sealed. The core was placed under court protection with an order prohibiting access until the criminal cases ended.

As officers carried it away, the optical drive activated by itself. One line appeared on its display: “Condition Two failed. Victor Cross has withdrawn his confession.”
