The Call Boy I Met in Paris – Episode 74

Stella contacted Sophie the next day and claimed she was ready to deliver the promised evidence. She chose an abandoned office connected to an old Swift property, insisting that Karen monitored her movements and would destroy everything if she sensed betrayal.

Sophie sent the address to Kendall before entering. Inside, Stella waited near a table covered with documents. The security cameras above the door appeared active, offering one small reassurance.

“She is here,” Stella said into her phone. Then, to Sophie’s horror, the camera lights went dark.

Two men emerged from the adjoining room. Sophie turned toward the exit, but one seized her arms while the other took her phone.

“Stop!” she shouted, fighting hard enough to drive an elbow into one man’s ribs. A cloth covered her mouth before she could reach the door.

Kendall saw Sophie’s location stop moving and called Justin. Patrick traced the final signal while Justin mobilized Lake security and contacted the police.

“Miss Sophie has been abducted,” Patrick confirmed. “We have the address.”

“Send it now.” Justin was already moving. “Call every security unit nearby. We bring her home.”

Sophie regained awareness tied to a chair inside a warehouse. Karen stood before her with Stella, holding transfer papers that would surrender Sophie’s company control and silence the investigation.

“You have nowhere to run,” Karen said. “No one will protect you now. Sign.”

“You will not get away with this.”

“No one will know once you are dead.”

Sophie looked at the papers and pretended fear had defeated her. “I will sign, but answer one question first.”

Karen told her to speak.

“Why did you kill my mother?”

Impatience loosened Karen’s caution. “Her heart condition relapsed. I accidentally switched her medication. Who knew she would die?”

The confession destroyed Sophie’s last hope that the truth might be less cruel than her suspicions. Karen smiled and promised to send her to her mother soon.

The warehouse door crashed open. Justin crossed the distance toward Sophie as police and security flooded the building—but Karen raised a weapon behind him.
