Nolan struck the foundation. The throne room floor split beneath Klaudius, and the crystal tipped from its stand.
Daisy broke the magical collar at the same moment. Its fragments became red sparks around her throat.
Klaudius caught the vessel before it shattered. His fury stripped away every trace of paternal charm.
Nolan climbed through the broken floor. The sight of Klaudius brought years of revenge into physical reach.
“He wants you angry,” Daisy warned through the bond. The crystal could absorb power driven directly against it.
Klaudius taunted Nolan with details from his parents’ final moments. Each word was designed to provoke the wolf.
Nolan’s claws extended. Daisy stepped into his path.
“Choose me,” she said again. Revenge had guided him to the castle, but it did not have to command the ending.
Nolan looked at her instead of Klaudius. His rage remained, controlled rather than erased.
They attacked separately. Daisy drew the vessel’s power toward herself while Nolan struck Klaudius from beyond its reach.
The vampire lord blocked Nolan and attempted to force Daisy’s energy into the crystal.
She reversed the current. The vessel began returning years of stolen power to the castle walls.
Vampire guards outside staggered as Klaudius’s control over them weakened.
Lucien watched from the gallery. He had waited for precisely this fracture in his master’s authority.
He ordered half the guards to abandon Klaudius. The other half attacked them, turning the corridors into civil war.
Klaudius realized the betrayal too late. “Lucien!”
The servant bowed from above. “Every reign ends, my lord.”
Daisy did not mistake Lucien’s rebellion for rescue. He wanted the throne intact after Klaudius fell.
Nolan drove Klaudius away from the crystal. Daisy enclosed the vessel inside a barrier.
For the first time, her father stood without stolen power or obedient guards between him and the two lives he had tried to destroy.
