The Double Life of My Billionaire Husband – Episode 34
Daniel’s reaction worsened faster than Natalie could process. Sebastian found the epinephrine injector in the open bag and passed it to her, preserving his disguise while guiding her with precise instructions. Natalie pressed it against Daniel’s thigh and held it until the mechanism clicked.
The security team called emergency services. Daniel’s breathing gradually eased, though his skin remained flushed and his hands trembled. Natalie knelt beside him, counting each breath until the intervals became normal. She had entered the office worried about embarrassment and now watched paramedics hurry toward a man who could have died. The disproportion made Serena’s instruction feel deliberate before any evidence confirmed it.
Serena entered with Kyle and several employees behind her. “She brought you hazelnut? Everyone knows you’re severely allergic.” Her outrage sounded protective, but she avoided looking at the cup.
“You told me to buy it,” Natalie said. Fear gave way to clarity. Serena had not intended a minor humiliation; she had weaponized a fatal allergy to remove an employee she hated.
“I did no such thing.” Serena produced the original order list showing an Americano. “I specifically warned you about his allergy.”
Natalie opened her phone. The screenshot she saved should have shown the corrected instruction, but the message thread now displayed only the original order. Serena had deleted her later text from the company chat and counted on Natalie’s screenshot being lost among the morning’s chaos. The deletion revealed planning: Serena had thought about evidence while Daniel struggled for air. Natalie’s fear cooled into anger.
“I have the image,” Natalie said. She searched her gallery, but her screen had cracked when she dropped the phone while helping Daniel. The damaged display flickered and went black.
Kyle stared at her with disappointment he had not earned the right to express. “This doesn’t sound like you, Natalie. What were you thinking?”
“She has always been reckless,” Serena replied. “You were too blinded by your history with her to see it.” The statement exposed jealousy beneath the professional accusation.
Sebastian stood near Daniel, forcing himself not to end the confrontation with a single command. Revealing authority now would save Natalie immediately, but the truth spoken in anger might make her believe the entire marriage was a performance.
Daniel pushed himself upright. “No one is being fired until we establish what happened.” His weakened voice still controlled the room.
Serena demanded Natalie’s immediate dismissal and threatened legal action for attempted murder. She described intent with suspicious confidence, turning an accident into a criminal story before medical help even arrived. Several employees exchanged uncertain looks. Natalie had saved Daniel, followed emergency instructions, and remained beside him; none of that resembled a person who wanted him dead.
Natalie studied her. “If you warned me about the allergy, why did you send me into his office alone? Why didn’t you deliver the drink yourself?”
“Because coffee runs are appropriate for new employees.” Serena smiled coldly. “Not managers.”
Paramedics examined Daniel and recommended hospital observation. He refused to leave until security preserved hallway footage and company technology recovered the message history. Serena’s confidence finally faltered.
Natalie remembered photographing the original tray at the café. The image proved she initially followed the Americano order, but it did not show who demanded the replacement. Still, it established that she had no reason to purchase hazelnut on her own.
Sebastian borrowed a charger from Daniel’s desk and connected Natalie’s phone to a monitor. The device still transmitted data despite its broken screen. Her gallery appeared, including the screenshot Serena believed inaccessible.
The image clearly showed Serena’s instruction to replace the Americano with a hazelnut latte. Time, sender, and wording were visible to everyone. It also captured Natalie questioning the change and Serena insisting the drink be delivered personally. Kyle stepped away from his fiancée as if dishonesty were contagious, already calculating which version of loyalty would damage him least.
Serena claimed the screenshot had been altered. Daniel asked information security to restore the deleted server record. The confirmation arrived within minutes: Serena had sent the message and erased it after the emergency began.
Daniel looked from the evidence to Natalie, then fixed Serena with a coldness that stripped away every remaining excuse. His position required discipline, but memory of his closing throat made forgiveness impossible. “You’re right,” he said. “We cannot allow someone this dangerous to remain at B.M.” Serena smiled too soon, mistaking the direction of his anger—until his gaze settled entirely on her.
