My Alpha Boss Gave Me Triplets – Episode 68

The contractions stopped after an hour, but Lara called the episode a warning. Evie had entered the final stretch of pregnancy, and false labor could become real without giving anyone time to prepare.

The delivery suite occupied the residence’s safest ground-floor wing. Human obstetric equipment stood beside warded instruments designed to measure supernatural energy without touching the babies’ minds.

Evie reviewed every consent form. She authorized emergency surgery if she lost consciousness, named Lara as final medical decision-maker, and limited Leopold’s role to the choices any partner could make. His Alpha status granted nothing extra.

Leopold signed as witness. He did not ask to be made the decision-maker, though fear traveled through the bond whenever doctors discussed hemorrhage, fetal distress, or the possibility of choosing which life to stabilize first.

“Do not hide that fear from me,” Evie said. “Just do not turn it into control.”

He admitted he had spent his life believing command was the cure for helplessness. Loving her required him to remain present when no order could guarantee the outcome.

Max rehearsed emergency routes with the security team. The staff expected Darleen loyalists, angry elders, or reporters. Evie pointed out that ordinary mistakes were more likely than dramatic attacks and demanded equal attention to elevators, backup generators, and blood supplies.

Her caution proved useful when a sensor registered magic beneath the delivery room. Guards sealed the wing, assuming sabotage, while technicians traced the surge.

The source was not an intruder. Mara Vale’s recovered pendant had activated beside the Stonehearth seal, opening a forgotten ward beneath the floor.

Inside the ward lay three small wooden tokens, each carved with an animal and a name that records said belonged to Mara’s stolen children. The objects had waited where no council archive could erase them.

Leopold wanted the tokens removed before Evie delivered. She asked Lara and the neutral archivist to test them first. Fear alone would not decide what belonged near her children.

The tests found no binding spell. The tokens carried protective memories: a mother singing, tiny hands reaching, and a promise that the children would someday know they had been loved before they were claimed.

Evie wept for a woman whose grief had been reduced to a curse in Stonehearth history. Mara had not begun with vengeance. She had begun by trying to leave proof of love.

With Evie’s consent, the archivist placed the tokens in a glass case outside the delivery suite. They would not become relics of the Alpha line. After the birth, they would move to the retreat with Mara’s full history.

The discovery altered the remaining council opposition. Elders who had called Mara dangerous were forced to confront the tenderness hidden beneath their official account.

That night, Leopold returned to the question interrupted by the contractions. The plain band remained on the table. He explained that it carried no ward and represented no legal promise she had not chosen.

Evie slipped it onto her finger herself. “This is not an answer about forever,” she said. “It is an answer about today.”

“Today is enough,” Leopold replied.

She told him she loved him—not because the bond proved it, and not because the babies connected them, but because he had learned to stand beside a closed door without breaking it down.

At dawn, Evie woke to warm fluid beneath her and a deep pressure that did not fade. When she called Lara, all three fetal monitors began sounding at once.
