Falling for My Ex’s Mafia Dad — Episode 84
The recording spread across news channels before Mara could request removal. Kent’s voice sounded cold and deliberate, a Mafia king admitting he killed a federal officer and concealed the body.
Ivan listened inside protective custody. The edit erased uncertainty but preserved the central wound: Kent fired the fatal shot. No technical correction could make Ilya alive.
Mara needed Ivan to authenticate the full confession. Without him, prosecutors could argue the omitted context was defense fabrication.
Ivan refused at first. Helping Kent felt like betraying his father a second time. Fay did not ask him to forgive; she asked him to protect the truth from being used by Lorenzo.
She brought Victoria’s photograph of Ilya, Elise, and baby Fay. Ivan saw the document his father tried to reach before Kent shot him.
Victoria explained that Ilya had agreed to expose Grant and Lorenzo. He began as a corrupt officer but attempted to leave the system when Elise’s life became the price.
Ivan’s heroic childhood story and Kent’s corrupt-cop story were both incomplete. Ilya had been guilty, brave, compromised, and afraid.
Fay said a truthful son did not honor his father by flattening him into a saint. Ivan could demand accountability for the killing while acknowledging what Ilya tried to repair.
Ivan agreed to testify. He authenticated the full recording, Grant’s coercion, and the cloned credentials used to forge his earlier affidavit.
At the hearing, prosecutors withdrew the federal-officer murder allegation pending independent review. The genuine racketeering charges remained.
The judge allowed Kent to move into Fay’s apartment under reinforced monitoring. Lorenzo’s attack could not become grounds for punishing its victim.
Kent entered Fay’s small apartment with one approved bag and no staff. The brick-wall view, noisy pipes, and narrow bed challenged every habit formed by wealth.
He loved it because Fay had chosen it. He asked where to place his belongings rather than assuming any drawer belonged to him.
Their reunion remained tender but restrained by pregnancy fatigue and surveillance. Privacy could not be complete under monitoring, so they rebuilt intimacy through meals, conversation, and ordinary routines.
Kent attended remote counseling as part of release. The requirement began as court compliance and became the first place he discussed Elise without converting grief into strategy.
Fay continued her own therapy with someone outside the clinic. Loving change did not make her responsible for producing it.
Daniel and Colin visited for dinner. Kent asked Colin about university instead of security, an awkward effort that Colin accepted with equal patience.
For several hours, they resembled a family unobserved by crime or scandal. Then Mara called with the outcome of Ivan’s proffer.
Prosecutors would offer Ivan immunity for authorized undercover conduct but charge him for illegal surveillance and endangerment. In exchange, his testimony could clear Kent’s fabricated counts.
Ivan accepted—then added one condition: Fay had to meet him alone before he signed the final statement.
