Salt Kiss – Episode 09
The private room seemed to breathe around Tristan, warm and close, while the drug blurred the boundary between warning and desire. Dinah’s presence filled his narrowed attention. He knew enough to recognize that his judgment had been compromised, yet knowledge did not restore control.
“I don’t think we should be doing this,” he said. The protest sounded distant even to him. Beneath it ran a far more disturbing question: why did he want to continue so badly?
Dinah smiled as if hesitation were another part of the game. “Breaking the rules?” she asked. “That means punishment.” Her certainty gave the haze inside Tristan a direction, replacing thought with a command he could follow.
“Shirt off.”
His hands moved before his better instincts could stop them. “Yes, ma’am.” The formal response came from years of conditioned discipline, but Dinah transformed it into something intimate. Obedience here carried no uniform, no mission, and no honor Tristan could use to explain it away.
She watched him expose his chest. “So eager.” Her approval sent heat through him, and shame followed too slowly to matter. He had entered the Lyonesse convinced that submission belonged to other people. Now his own body betrayed that certainty.
“Too eager,” Dinah corrected. She circled him, letting anticipation tighten with every step. “Someone needs to be put on a leash.”
Tristan should have refused. Instead, he stood still while she fitted a collar around his neck and attached the lead. The click sounded impossibly loud. It marked the instant when the soldier who had pulled a gun rather than kneel allowed another person to hold him by the throat.
Dinah secured him in place, using restraints designed to leave control entirely in her hands. He tested them on instinct, but the movement only emphasized his helplessness. Drugged heat turned the vulnerability into something his body welcomed even while his mind recoiled.
“Look at you,” she murmured. “Already squirming.” She drew the leash taut enough to demand his attention. Tristan followed the pressure, furious with himself for the ease of it.
“Do you want more?” Dinah asked. The question should have offered a moment to stop. Instead, it exposed the conflict inside him with brutal clarity.
“I shouldn’t.” Tristan gripped what remained of his reason, remembering Mark’s order and the threat he was supposed to monitor. But Dinah waited, and the need burning through him overwhelmed everything else. “But… yes.”
Her satisfaction deepened. “Then tell me. Who’s in control, pet?” The name should have insulted him. In the fog of the drug, it felt like permission to surrender responsibility for what happened next.
Tristan swallowed, the collar shifting against his skin. “You are.” The admission left him exposed in a way nakedness could not. He had handed over the very thing Mark claimed defined this world.
“Good boy.” Dinah’s praise travelled through him like another dose of the drug. She moved closer, preparing to make certain he would remember who controlled him.
The door opened with violent force. “Don’t touch him.” Mark’s voice cut through the haze more effectively than any alarm. Every trace of detached elegance had vanished, replaced by cold fury.
Dinah froze. Tristan turned as far as the restraints allowed and found Mark framed in the doorway, gaze fixed first on the collar, then on every point where Tristan had been bound. Possession and anger sharpened his expression into something dangerous.
“He’s mine.” The claim silenced the room. Tristan had insisted he belonged to no one, yet his pulse leaped at the words. Mark had come for him—not merely as an employer retrieving a careless guard, but as a man unwilling to let anyone else take what he had already decided to possess.
