My Alpha Boss Gave Me Triplets – Episode 21
The certainty in Leopold’s voice silenced the entrance hall. His palm remained over Evie’s hand, and three faint heartbeats answered him through the bond like sparks beneath his skin. For weeks he had resisted every sign that tied the human woman to him. Now his own blood recognized the children before him, leaving no room for suspicion or pride.
Evie’s brother recovered first. “You expect us to believe that?” he demanded. “She has been lying to everyone.” He tried to step forward, but the Stonehearth guards closed ranks. A moment earlier they had hesitated to interfere in a human family dispute. The instant Leopold named the unborn triplets as his, Evie stood at the center of pack law.
Leopold rose without taking his body from between Evie and the threat. His eyes flashed with the cold authority that made stronger wolves lower their heads. “Get out of my house.”
Her brother laughed nervously. “She belongs with her family.”
“She belongs to herself.” Leopold’s correction came like a blade. “You came here to force her into a marriage, demanded that she destroy her children, and tried to strike her while she was injured. Leave now. If you refuse, I will show you exactly what an Alpha is capable of.”
The threat changed the air. Even Evie, who could not sense rank the way the wolves did, felt pressure settle over the room. Her relatives went pale. Leopold did not raise his voice or bare his teeth. He did not need to. Every guard moved at once, collecting the visitors and steering them toward the doors with absolute obedience.
Evie’s brother twisted around before the doors closed. “When he gets tired of you, don’t come crawling home.”
The insult struck an old wound, but Evie refused to let him see it. “I stopped having a home there long before today.” The doors shut on his answer. Only then did her knees weaken.
Leopold caught her again. The bond delivered the cramp in her abdomen directly into his body, followed by three anxious flickers. “Call Doctor Lara,” he ordered. “Now.”
Max sent a guard running, but Evie pulled away from Leopold’s support. “Do not start giving orders about me.” Her voice trembled from exhaustion, not surrender. “Five minutes ago, you were having my things packed.”
Leopold looked at the boxes lining the hall. They stood as evidence of a decision made before he knew the truth, yet ignorance did not excuse it. He had demanded honesty from Evie while offering her contempt, suspicion, and a home that could disappear whenever his pride was injured. “The order is withdrawn.”
“That does not undo it.” Evie pressed a hand to her abdomen until the pain eased. “You believed those babies might not be yours, so you decided I no longer deserved safety. Now they share your blood and suddenly I matter again.”
“You mattered before.” The answer escaped him too quickly.
Evie met his gaze. “Then why did you make me prove it?”
Leopold had no defense that did not sound like an admission of cruelty. He could say she had lied, but he had taught her to fear the truth. He could say he had been jealous, but jealousy was merely possession disguised as pain. The bond carried enough of her hurt for him to understand that claiming the triplets would not repair what he had broken.
Doctor Lara arrived and examined Evie in a nearby sitting room. The triplets remained stable, but stress had pushed her body dangerously close to another crisis. She needed rest, regular monitoring, and protection from anyone who might target a human carrying Alpha heirs. Every instruction strengthened Leopold’s determination and deepened Evie’s fear that her pregnancy had become pack property.
When the doctor finished, Leopold ordered the boxes returned to Evie’s room. Evie stopped the servants before they could lift them. “No. I’m leaving.”
Max quietly cleared the servants from the hall, granting them a privacy that had been missing from every decision so far. Evie saw the conflict on his face. As Leopold’s Beta, he wanted the Alpha’s heirs behind guarded walls; as the man who had watched her survive the office attack, he understood why remaining could feel like surrender. He handed Evie the medical instructions instead of giving them to Leopold. The small gesture reminded everyone that the patient named on the pages was Evie.
Leopold looked toward the open front doors. Beyond them waited the human city, where he could not control every threat, and a family that had already tried to seize her. Behind him stood an estate he had turned into another conditional refuge. Protecting Evie would be easy if strength were enough. Making her choose his protection after he had abused her trust required a humility no Alpha training had ever taught him.
“Your family knows where you work, and the wolves who attacked you may have allies.” Leopold fought to keep command from his tone. “You are not safe alone.”
“I will not stay because you pity me or because you want your heirs under guard.” Evie took the handle of her suitcase. “If you want me to trust you, being the most dangerous man in the room is not enough.” She walked toward the doors he had just cleared for her, and for the first time that morning, Leopold did not know whether he had the right to stop her.
