My Alpha Boss Gave Me Triplets – Episode 20
Evie pulled against her brother’s grip. “Let go of me.” She had escaped home to prevent exactly this moment, building a life from an internship while her family waited for her to fail. Yet he held her as if nine months of independence had never happened. The Stonehearth guards watched Leopold for an order, demonstrating how completely Evie’s freedom still depended on the decisions of powerful men.
“You’ve caused enough trouble,” he said. “Farmer Joe agreed to overlook whatever you did in this house. You should be grateful anyone still wants you.”
Humiliation burned through Evie, but fear mattered more. Her brother’s fingers pressed close to the bruises left by the fall, and the sudden struggle tightened painfully across her abdomen. Doctor Lara’s warning returned with brutal clarity: reduced stress, no further injury, and immediate attention if pain or bleeding returned. “I said I’m not going.” She could endure her family’s insults, but she could not let their anger endanger the triplets.
Max ordered the man to release her. Before the guards could intervene, Evie’s brother shoved her toward the luggage and accused her of hiding behind wolves to avoid her obligations.
Evie stumbled but caught the table. One hand flew to her stomach, a reflex her brother noticed immediately. His eyes narrowed as he took in her loose clothing, pale face, and protective posture.
“You’re pregnant.” Disgust replaced surprise. His gaze moved around the hall, searching for confirmation from the wolves, and then settled on Leopold. “Is that why they’re throwing you out? You let some wolf ruin you, and now you think Joe should raise the bastard?” He did not ask whether Evie was healthy or wanted the child. Pregnancy mattered to him only because it complicated the bargain he expected to enforce.
“Do not talk about my babies that way.” Evie straightened despite the ache. “They have nothing to do with you or Farmer Joe.”
Her use of the plural caught Leopold’s attention. Babies. More than one. Evie had denied the pregnancy, then admitted it belonged to another man, but she had never told him how many children she carried. The three scents in the bloodstained restroom returned to him with devastating clarity, along with the three subtle echoes he had felt through the curse. Evie’s brother moved before Leopold could question her.
“Then get rid of them before we go home.” The man lunged for her, aiming a hand toward the abdomen she was trying to protect. His demand treated three living children as an obstacle that could be removed to preserve a profitable marriage. Whether he intended to strike her, force her into a procedure, or drag her away no longer mattered; the threat to the unborn children was unmistakable. Evie backed away, but luggage blocked the safest route.
Evie twisted aside, but her weakened body could not move quickly enough. The recent fall had stolen the speed she needed, and the triplets left no room for another impact. Pain flashed through the mate bond a fraction of a second before Leopold reached them.
He caught Evie’s brother by the wrist and threw him away from her. The man hit the floor, staring up at the Alpha whose restraint had vanished. Leopold’s wolf recognized the attack as a threat to his own blood even before his mind accepted the implication. Guards immediately surrounded the man and blocked the rest of the family from approaching. No uncertainty about Evie’s story could override the instinct commanding Leopold to protect her.
Leopold stepped between Evie and every threat in the hall. “If you touch her or those children again, you will answer to me.” The declaration carried pack authority despite his order that Evie leave the estate.
Her brother scrambled upright. “Why do you care? She said some other man got her pregnant. Ask her who the father is.”
Silence settled over the hall. Evie could deny the pregnancy no longer, not after defending the babies in front of everyone. Pack servants and guards had heard enough to understand why the Alpha had brought her home and why he had ordered her out the following day. She kept one arm across her abdomen and avoided Leopold’s eyes. The secret she meant to control was unraveling under the pressure of two families claiming authority over her.
“Who is he?” Leopold asked. Anger remained in his voice, but it was no longer directed entirely at her family. “Give me a name.”
“It doesn’t matter.” Evie fought to keep her breathing even. “The babies are mine, and I will protect them.”
Her brother made another move toward her, shouting that the family had a right to decide what happened. The stress triggered a sharp cramp. Evie folded around it, and the same pain tore through Leopold’s body.
This time he did not mistake the sensation for an echo belonging only to his mate. Beneath Evie’s pain came three faint pulses, each carrying the unmistakable signature of the Stonehearth bloodline. The curse connected him not merely to Evie, but to the lives inside her.
Leopold caught her before she fell and placed his palm over the hand guarding her abdomen. Three separate responses stirred through the bond. No unrelated father could explain them, and no lie could erase what his own blood recognized. He looked into Evie’s terrified face, finally certain of the truth. “They’re mine.”
