My Alpha Boss Gave Me Triplets – Episode 11
Evie lay crumpled at the foot of the stairs, fighting to remain conscious. The bright office lights blurred above her while footsteps gathered at the railing. Every breath sent pain through her body, but the blood frightened her more than any injury. Only hours earlier she had promised to give the triplets a safe life; now she could not even stand to seek help. She pressed one trembling hand to her abdomen as if determination alone could keep her children safe.
Francesca descended with several she-wolves behind her. The fury that had driven her to push Evie disappeared when she saw the spreading blood. “Oh, Moon Goddess,” one of the women whispered. “She’s pregnant.”
The discovery could have ended their cruelty. A pregnancy made the blood more alarming, and a human carrying wolf pups should have inspired immediate medical action. Instead, Francesca immediately began protecting herself. “Evie hooked up with some random man and got herself pregnant,” she said, turning the victim on the floor into the cause of the scandal. If the others saw Evie as immoral and disposable, they might forget who had pushed her.
Another woman curled her lip. “What a trashy little human.” Their contempt gave them permission to look away from the violence that had just occurred. If Evie was beneath them, they did not have to admit what Francesca had done.
One she-wolf hesitated. “Should we call emergency services?”
Francesca’s face tightened. Medical help would bring questions, security footage, and an investigation. Worse, Leopold had already punished her once for harming Evie. “Alpha Leopold won’t tolerate this. If he finds out, we’ll all be in trouble.”
“Then help me,” Evie pleaded. Pride no longer mattered, nor did the months of insults she had endured without asking anyone for mercy. The triplets could not defend themselves against prejudice aimed at their mother. “Please. My babies.” Her voice weakened on the final word, but no one could mistake what was at stake.
The hesitant she-wolf took half a step forward, but Francesca blocked her. The former manager understood that a hospital could identify when the injuries occurred and that Evie would expose the stolen portfolio as soon as she felt safe. “We are not helping some pathetic human. This is our chance to get rid of her once and for all.” By framing murder as a shared opportunity, she made silence feel like loyalty.
The cold calculation in her voice forced Evie through the fog of pain. Until that moment, part of her had believed the women were panicking and would eventually call for help. Francesca’s decision destroyed that hope. Remaining at the foot of the stairs meant surrendering herself and her children to women who preferred her dead. Evie grabbed the railing and dragged herself upright, leaving a smear of blood where her palm pressed against the floor.
Francesca ordered the others to stop her. Evie staggered into the corridor as voices divided behind her. “Go that way,” someone shouted. Footsteps spread through the department, cutting off the most obvious exits.
Evie held her abdomen and forced her legs to keep moving. Each doorway looked briefly like refuge before footsteps closed off the route behind her. “Mommy won’t let anything happen to you,” she whispered. She had no weapon, no wolf strength, and nowhere safe to go, but she still had the will to protect the lives entrusted to her. The promise became a rhythm carrying her forward whenever pain threatened to drop her.
Across the city, Leopold doubled over as pain ripped through his body. This was not nausea or the echo of a burned hand. It felt as if he had struck hard ground, followed by a deeper pain centered somewhere his own body could not account for. The agony carried terror with it, urgent and unmistakable. Evie was not merely upset; she was fighting to survive.
Max caught his arm before he fell. “Alpha?”
Leopold closed his eyes and focused on the bond he had spent weeks resisting. Evie was hurt, and the intensity told him this was no ordinary accident. The connection that allowed him to feel her pain now pulled at him like a line stretched close to breaking. Regret struck beside the fear: she had asked him to leave her alone, and he had obeyed without ensuring the dangers surrounding her were gone.
Another sensation moved beneath the pain—faint, unfamiliar, yet tied to Evie and to him. It did not resemble the full mate bond, but it carried an echo of his own blood and multiplied the fear pressing through him. The symptoms from a month earlier finally aligned with the force of what he was feeling now. The possibility he had not allowed himself to consider became impossible to avoid.
“Evie’s in trouble,” Leopold said. Certainty replaced shock as he straightened. Whatever had happened between them at the club no longer mattered. She needed him, whether she had asked for his protection or not.
Max saw the realization in his face. “What else can you feel?”
“She’s pregnant.” Leopold spoke the words for the first time, and the curse mark burned in answer. There was only one possible explanation for the life he could sense through their completed bond. “I think the child is mine.”
He did not wait for further proof. “We have to find her.” Whether she welcomed him or not, the bond made her terror unmistakable, and hesitation could cost more than his pride. Leopold moved with the speed of an Alpha answering a threat to his mate, unaware that Evie was already fleeing through the halls of his own company while Francesca’s wolves closed in behind her.
