My Alpha Boss Gave Me Triplets – Episode 01
Evie Florentine hurried through the polished lobby of Stonehearth Design with her phone pressed to her ear, trying not to let panic show on her face. Around her, sharply dressed werewolves moved with the easy confidence of people who knew they belonged. Evie had never been allowed that luxury. She was human, she was an intern, and after nine exhausting months, the company still had not decided whether she was worth keeping.
“It has been nine months already,” a familiar voice snapped through the phone. “If you don’t pass your probation this week, I’m dragging you home to marry Farmer Joe.” The threat was delivered as if Evie’s future were no more important than an overdue bill. Her stomach tightened at the thought of returning to a life someone else had chosen for her.
“No. Listen, I promise I’m going to pass,” Evie said, lowering her voice as two employees glanced her way. “I can’t talk right now, but I’ve got this, okay?” She ended the call before another ultimatum could follow, then stared at her darkened screen. Saying she had things under control did not make it true.
She had spent months arriving first, leaving last, and accepting every impossible assignment thrown at her. None of it seemed to matter to the wolves who saw a human badge before they saw her work. Every finished design seemed to vanish beneath a supervisor’s name, while every minor mistake remained attached to hers. If she failed now, she would lose more than a job. She would lose the fragile independence she had fought so hard to build.
The elevator doors began to close, and Evie slipped between them at the last second. Only after the doors sealed did she realize she was not alone. A tall man stood in the corner, one hand braced against the mirrored wall, his expensive suit unable to disguise the rigid tension in his body.
Evie recognized him instantly. Leopold Stonehearth was not merely the head of the company; he was Alpha of the Stonehearth Pack, the most powerful pack in the region. Employees lowered their voices when he passed. Even senior wolves stepped aside for him. Evie had always made certain to stay far out of his path.
Tonight, however, something was wrong. His breathing came too fast, and heat seemed to radiate from him despite the cool air. His normally controlled expression had hardened into a grimace. When he lifted his gaze to her, the intensity in his eyes pinned her in place.
“I need you,” he said.
Evie’s hand froze over the elevator controls. Surely she had misunderstood. “Alpha Leopold?” she asked, struggling to keep her voice steady. Her boss had likely never noticed her among the company’s hundreds of employees, yet now he looked at her as though she were the only person in the building.
Leopold stepped closer, fighting for control with every movement. “Listen to me. I’ve been drugged, and I need your help. Do you understand?” The admission sounded dragged from him, sharpened by humiliation and urgency. Whatever substance was in his system had pushed even an Alpha to the edge.
Evie backed against the wall, her pulse racing. “I’m just a human intern. I can’t—” She did not belong in his world, and she certainly was not equipped to deal with an Alpha whose restraint was unraveling in front of her.
“You’re the only one who can.” His answer came without hesitation.
The elevator felt smaller with every breath. When Evie reached toward him, heat burned through the sleeve of his shirt. Leopold caught her wrist, not hard enough to hurt, but with enough force to reveal how desperately he was holding himself together. His skin was feverish beneath her fingertips.
“You’re burning up,” she whispered. Fear told her to get away, yet an inexplicable pull kept her rooted beside him. It was more than sympathy and more dangerous than attraction. Something in her responded to his nearness with a certainty her mind could not explain.
Leopold’s gaze searched hers. “Anything you want is yours. Just help me.” The promise carried the authority of a man accustomed to making reality bend to his will. For Evie, whose entire future depended on passing probation, the words should have sounded like salvation.
Instead, she could barely remember her job. She was conscious only of his hand around her wrist, the heat between them, and the raw vulnerability beneath his commanding voice. Leopold Stonehearth was feared by nearly every wolf in the company, but at that moment he was asking a powerless human to save him.
“I need you, Evie.” Hearing her name from his lips broke through the last of her resistance. Leopold leaned close enough for her to feel his breath, giving her one final chance to pull away. She knew crossing that line could destroy the life she was trying to protect, but desire drowned out the warning.
When she closed the distance between them, neither of them understood what they had set in motion. Evie believed she was surrendering to one reckless night with the most untouchable man she had ever met. Leopold believed he was accepting the only relief the drug would allow. Neither knew that fate had already recognized them—or that the bond forming between a human intern and a cursed Alpha would refuse to be forgotten.
