Twilight Romance: Flash Marriage to Mature Tycoon – Episode 40

The live image showed Violet stepping onto the residence porch while Harry carried Caleb behind her. A red targeting point moved across the railing. Ray called security before panic could become action, ordering everyone inside.

Jocelyn kept her eyes on the screen. The angle came from a stationary camera rather than a rifle scope; the red point had been added digitally to frighten them. Still, whoever transmitted the image knew the residence location.

Harry answered on the second call. Security had moved them into a reinforced room, and no intruder had been found. Violet’s voice in the background insisted she was fine, but Jocelyn heard fear beneath the words.

Ray blamed himself for selecting a property connected to the foundation. Jocelyn stopped the spiral before it became another attempt to control every variable. Someone had leaked the address, and finding that person mattered more than assigning guilt.

Technicians traced the video to a camera already installed across the road. The device belonged to a traffic-monitoring contractor. Access logs showed the feed had been requested using credentials from Tony’s private investigator.

Police arrested the investigator at a motel. He confessed to placing the package and creating the video under instructions sent before Tony’s detention. He denied firing the garage shot and insisted no weapon had targeted Violet.

The immediate danger ended, but Summer’s handwritten note remained unexplained. Handwriting analysis suggested a close imitation rather than certainty. Someone wanted Ray to focus on his ex-wife while other motives stayed hidden.

Tony finally requested a deal. In exchange for reduced charges, he would identify the shooter and surrender records of every payment. Prosecutors arranged an interview with Astor investigators present.

He admitted hiring the surveillance investigator but blamed the gunfire on a debt collector connected to falsified Smith accounts. Tony had borrowed heavily to preserve his family’s appearance of wealth. When the Astor deal collapsed, the lender turned threatening.

The revelation reduced the conspiracy from an elegant master plan to layers of greed, fear, and reckless promises. Jocelyn understood that Tony’s cruelty had always depended on appearing more powerful than he was. The illusion had finally become dangerous to everyone around him.

Police arrested the shooter using Tony’s payment records. The threat to Violet’s residence was declared contained. Harry brought the family back to the mansion after two days, though Violet refused to sleep until Jocelyn checked every window with her.

Summer denied writing the note but admitted telling Tony where Ray stored the original ring box. Her information had allowed the private investigator to steal it. Prosecutors added the admission to the extortion case.

With the danger contained, Ray returned the ring to Jocelyn without ceremony. He said it belonged to her whether she wore it, stored it, or melted it into something new. The absence of a demand made the choice feel truly hers.

Jocelyn placed Violet’s silver ring beside the original band. One represented the honest beginning; the other held the vows they had nearly lost. She slid both onto the same chain and wore them near her heart.

Ray accepted that answer, but Violet declared it insufficiently romantic. She revealed the purpose of the second ring box: it contained a key rather than jewelry. The key opened the renovated foundation wing.

Ray had arranged only the empty space and funding, leaving every program decision open. A brass plaque near the entrance read The Jocelyn West Center for Second Chances. He had used her own name, not Astor, because the work belonged to the life she built before him.

Jocelyn stood before the unfinished rooms, overwhelmed by a gift that offered purpose rather than possession. Ray made clear she could rename the center, lead it, advise it, or refuse it. The surprise was an opportunity, not an obligation.

She chose to build the program, beginning with employment training for caregivers returning to the workforce. Violet volunteered for the literacy room, while Harry offered to help design childcare services. Their family gathered around a future none of them had expected.

Later, alone beneath the unfinished ceiling, Jocelyn removed the original wedding ring from its chain. She placed it on her finger beside Violet’s silver band. Ray watched without speaking until she told him, “I am not choosing the man you pretended to be. I am choosing the man learning to tell me the truth.”

He kissed her with quiet gratitude, but an urgent call interrupted them. Astor security had searched Summer’s abandoned hotel suite and found travel documents for a new identity, along with a one-way ticket issued that morning. Summer had disappeared—and her destination was Jocelyn’s hometown.
